YAYA TOURE has backed manager Pep Guardiola's style of play and insists Manchester City can win trophies despite their Champions League exit this week.
Manchester City crashed out of the Champions League competition on away goals to Ligue 1 team Monaco after they struck late to seal a thrilling victory, which ended 6-6 on aggregate.
The Ivorian midfielder jumped to Guardiola's defence and disagreed with suggestions they will not be able to win trophies under his free-flowing style after they were heavily criticised.
The 33-year-old spoke to the Times of India: "Of course we can win trophies playing this way".

"That is what you have to do to be a winner. We are playing well in the Premier League and we have to continue."
Asked if the same strategy will be deployed against Liverpool, Toure added: "Yes. This is the way we play and if we play like that we are going to have more and more fans."
