DOWN AND OUT?

Sunderland 0-0 Burnley: Relegation strugglers Sunderland fail to boost hopes at the Stadium of Light against Burnley

Bottom of the relegation Sunderland fail to take all 3 points at home to Burnley

SUNDERLAND failed to boost their hopes of staying in the Premier League this afternoon as they drew 0-0 at home to Burnley.

David Moyes' black cats failed to put the clarets under any pressure throughout the clash as Burnley's Ashley Barnes had the best chances of the game.

Burnley should have been 1-0 ahead in the first half through Ashley Barnes as his right footed shot from the centre of the box was missed to the right which was assisted by Scott Arfield.

The second half provided fans with a much improved Sunderland team as Tom Heaton made a fine save at his far post to deny Adnan Januzai's volley.

David Moyes' side have not scored in their last four matches and are without a win from their past six home games.

The Black cats are seven points from safety with 10 games left and Burnley's wait for a first away win of the Premier League season continues.
