Before the main event however comes the tradition curtain-raiser - the Par 3 event - following two days of practice rounds.

Who is Scott Gregory?

Gregory is a British amateur golfer from Portsmouth.

The Brit is 22-years-old, born on October 1, 1994.

Amateur Gregory will be appearing in only his second major championship having turned out in The Open Championship in 2016 - failing to make the cut.

Gregory is so fresh on the golfing scene, he hasn't even officially broken into the professional game.

The English ace has three amateur tournament wins - the 2014 Waterford Trophy, the 2016 Amateur Championship and the NSW Amateur.

Brit star Gregory also represented England at the 2016 Eisenhower Trophy.

The 22-year-old qualified for the 2017 edition of The Masters thanks to winning the 2016 Amateur Championship.

The honorary nature of the invite to Augusta means if he doesn't maintain his place as British amateur champion, he won't be invited back next year.

Gregory is one of just five amateurs at the entire tournament in the US.
