MIKE TYSON has made a shock retirement u-turn after his eagerly-awaited Netflix bout with Jake Paul ended in controversy.

Fans fumed at the lack of action in the AT&T Stadium clash with both men barely landing a meaningful blow.

Following the end of the bout, Iron Mike appeared to call out Paul's brother Logan Paul next up.

In the co-main event, Katie Taylor defeated Amanda Serrano in hugely controversial circumstances.

  • Making history – and breaking Netflix

Not only was Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson the first combat sports event shown live on Netflix.

Friday night’s bout might have fallen short of expectations in the ring but far exceeded Netflix’s hopes as it peaked at 65 million streams.

The platform called it a “record-breaking night”, but the stream wasn’t without issues as Netflix struggled to keep up with the high demand.

  • Paul v Tyson fight: punch stats

    These make for woeful reading.

Paul vs Tyson shocking punch stats

THE punch stats from Mike Tyson's defeat to Jake Paul made for "sad" reading.

Veteran Iron Mike, 58, started strongly enough in his Netflix boxing fight with the former YouTuber.

But he simply ran out of gas within the first few minutes of the eight-round contest.

In the 16 minutes of action, the former undisputed heavyweight world champion landed just 18 punches - averaging just 2.25 successful hits per round.

In total, he only attempted 97, meaning he made contact with just 18 per cent.

By comparison, Paul, 27, threw a whopping 278 punches - nearly 200 more than his ageing opponent - but still only landed 78 for a success rate of 28 per cent despite his opponent barely moving.

His most explosive round came in the third when the victorious Problem Child attempted 44 punches and connected with 16 of them.

However, a woeful fifth round saw just four punches landed between the pair as the quality failed to live up to the hype and Paul refused to go for the knockout.

MIKE TYSON's long-awaited return to the ring didn't have the fairytale ending fight fans dreamed of.

SunSport's boxing expert Wally Downes Jr recaps one of the drabbest and most forgettable nights in boxing history.

And he didn't hold back, issuing a scathing assessment of social media sensation Jake Paul.

    Round One

Paul says "I love you, Mike" just before the opening bell sounds. He quickly runs away and holds the boxing legend.

Tyson draws a big reaction from the crowd as he lands a jab and a good right hand.

    Verdict: 10-9 Tyson

    Round Two

Paul ran away in the opener and held - just like we thought he would.

Tommy Fury had it first and now Mike Tyson. It's clever because Tyson will tire. Paul tags Tyson's body with a straight right.

Tyson looks spent now. 180 seconds in and the fight looks over.

    Verdict: 10-9 Tyson

    Round Three

The legend cannot even keep his gumshield in. As expected it's a waste of time. Paul has run away until the 58-year-old has tired.

Shooting ducks in a barrel now. Tyson might get hurt here. Paul lands a couple of clumsy shots and Tyson wobbles backwards.

    Tragic after three.

    Verdict: 10-9 Paul

    Round Four

This is proper rubbish. The crowd are bored and boos are being heard.

This is just two tired big lumps going at it.  One a legend, one a promoter.

    Verdict 10-9 Paul

    Round Five

Paul jabs the body and aims right for the head and another one-two clips the icon.

Tyson cannot keep his mouthpiece in, he is gasping for air. Paul lands a left hook but then so does Tyson.

    Verdict 10-9 Paul

    Round Six

Thank God these weren't three-minute rounds. We are getting about four punches per round.

Tyson is gasping in the air but replays show a left hook did graze Paul's beard.

    Verdict 10-9 Paul

    Round Seven

Tyson slips a jab and tries an uppercut. The commentator admits it has been a "sad" spectacle.

The AT&T stadium has been utterly stunk out. Paul is looking just as tired as Tyson.

    Verdict 10-9 Paul

    Round Eight

Go back to YouTube, Jake. You're an excellent conman. But you've never been a boxer.

The Judges decide: 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73. I'm glad Tyson gets paid and has stayed safe.

But what a laughable performance from Paul to add to his stinker with Tommy Fury.

  • Paul’s rival returns

Tommy Fury will return to the ring in January to face former UFC star Darren Till in a blockbuster main event.

The half-brother of former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has been out of action since his controversial points win over KSI on the record-breaking Misifts Prime card in October 2023.

Fury has a professional record of 10-0 ahead of the huge January clash, with one of his most recent victories coming against Jake Paul, who defeated boxing icon Mike Tyson in November.

MMA hero Till swapped the octagon for the squared circle after he parted ways with the UFC in March 2023.

He made his boxing debut in July 2024 against Mohammad Mutie, which he won with a third-round TKO – but his debut in the sport was marred by a mass brawl after the fight was waved off.

Fury and Till will face off in the huge Misfits Boxing 20 main event on January 18, 2025, at the Co-op Live in Manchester.

  • Paul responds to Beterbiev’s offer

Undisputed light-heavyweight world champion Artur Beterbiev appeared to offer Jake Paul a shot at his titles after Paul beat Mike Tyson on Friday night.

Beterbiev wrote on Instagram: “@jakepaul what can you do in ring against the current undisputed champion? Just know that I’m always open to any suggestions.”

Paul responded on X by saying: “Just seen this….top 5 pound for pound fighter in the world calling me out. Hahahahahaha. 4 years in and I run this sport.”

  • Tyson enters heavyweight rankings after defeat to Paul

Mike Tyson is an incredible 183 PLACES behind Jake Paul in the BoxRec heavyweight rankings after his defeat to the social media star.

Tyson, 58, lost by unanimous decision to the influencer-turned-boxer as the pair put on an uninspiring fight in Texas last week.

It was Iron Mike’s first time back in the professional ring since 2005, and as such he has re-entered the heavyweight standings.

His return to the sport he once dominated has seen him place in at 309th.

During his heyday, Tyson reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion between 1987 and 1990.

Now he sits just three spots above the likes of Terrell Jamal Woods, a 35-year-old fighter who has won just one of his last 15 fights and has a record of 29-62.

While relatively unknown fighters such as Bradford puncher Peter ‘The Problem’ Naylor sit way ahead of the boxing legend in the standings, despite Naylor never even fighting outside of Greater Manchester.

Jake Paul is currently ranked 126th in the world and is continuing to rise through the standings as he builds his boxing career with each fight.

  • Jake Paul vMike Tyson becomes one of the most-watched sports events EVER

Mike Tyson’s final bow defeat to Jake Paul has became one of the most-watched sporting events EVER after it joined a star-studded list.

Friday night’s bout might have fallen short of expectations in the ring but far exceeded Netflix’s hopes as it peaked at 65 million streams.

The platform called it a “record-breaking night”, but the stream wasn’t without issues as Netflix struggled to keep up with the high demand.

Viewers complained of freezing, buffering and resolution problems, as Netflix showed the bout to its hundreds of millions of subscribers without charging extra fees.

But regardless of the technical issues faced, Paul’s victory over a boxing icon 31 years his senior, became the 10th most-watched sporting event ever.

  • Paul hits back at Froch

Jake Paul hit back at Carl Froch after the ex-world champion claimed he would beat him with “one arm tied behind his back”.

He said: "F****** sour loser. Shut the f*** up.

"I’ve done more in four years than you have in your life.

"First and last time I respond to your broke salty a***. Let me know if you want to wash my cars."

  • Amanda Serrano injury

AMANDA SERRANO suffered a severe gaping wound above her right eye after her controversial loss to Katie Taylor.

Serrano, 36, lost her rematch to Taylor, 38, who is now 2-0 against her rival following their first encounter two years ago at Madison Square Garden.

The two boxers locked horns on Friday during the undercard of the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul main event at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

And the Puerto Rican sustained a horrific laceration above her right eyebrow thanks to repeated headbutts from Taylor.

Serrano bled throughout most of the match and it was obvious she was favouring that side of her face.

Taylor went on to pick up a unanimous decision, much to the dissatisfaction of many fans who strongly disagreed with the judges.

  • Tyson revelation

Mike Tyson revealed he "almost died" by a health scare before his controversial fight with Jake Paul.

Tyson, 58, lost his return fight against the much younger Paul, 27, who won via unanimous decision on Friday at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

Iron Mike went through all of the eight rounds despite his advanced age but was defeated on points against the YouTuber turned boxer on Netflix.

The fight was initially scheduled to take place on July 20 but the heavyweight legend suffered a medical emergency on board a flight as a result of an ulcer flare up that postponed the fight.

Tyson took to social media to share a touching statement revealing his health took a nosedive and that almost cost his life in June.

The American said he lost half his blood as well as 25lbs (1.8st) and required EIGHT blood transfusions.

This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.

I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.

To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.

  • Why Beterbiev challenged Paul

Jake Paul has been called out once more by undefeated boxing star Artur Beterbiev, who demands an answer.

Paul, 27, defeated a much older Mike Tyson on Friday at the AT&T Stadium in Texas via unanimous decision after a controversial fight on Netflix.

Besides the fact the stream crashed, many slammed the bout because the legendary Tyson's advanced age of 58 was glaringly obvious.

This marks another disputable boxing victory for the Problem Child, who has only faced one active professional boxer throughout his young four-year career in Tommy Fury who defeated him in 2023.

Paul has so far beaten Tyson past his prime, YouTuber AnEsonGib, ex-basketball player Nate Robinson as well as MMA heroes Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz and Mike Perry.

The YouTuber has also shared the ring with little-known boxers Andre August and Ryan Bourland, both of whom he beat.

That led to a challenge by Beterbiev, 39, who wants to see how Paul would fare against a legitimate boxer.
