Brave Sky Sports darts presenter opens up on anorexia battle and shares pics a year after ‘body was shutting down’
The Sky Sports favourite also had her say on Luke Littler's brilliant Wolverhampton exploits
BRAVE Sky Sports presenter Abigail Davies has opened up on her anorexia battle.
Davies has become a popular figure on Sky‘s darts coverage.
Over the weekend she covered Luke Littler‘s brilliant triumph at the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.
Following the event, Davies compared her current mental and physical health to at last year’s Grand Slam of Darts.
Along with side-by-side pictures from 2023 and today, she wrote: “Grand Slam 2023 – body was shutting down. Anorexia & suicidal thoughts controlled me again.
“GS 2024 – learning to accept weight gain, don’t feel numb & continuing to work on self worth/esteem.
“Relapses can happen, mental illnesses can torment but taking back control is possible.”
Davies received plenty of positive messages from her followers.
One replied: “Loved watching you yesterday! Great job and keep going!”
While a second responded: “Well done Abigail, you look really well.”
Her Sky colleague Ron Walker commented: “You’re doing amazingly Abi! Congratulations.”
And another follower added: “Well done Abi on your performance over course of event. Always engaging. Thank you sharing your story. Truly inspirational to many.”
Davies also opened up on her health struggles back in January after covering the World Darts Championship.
She wrote on social media at the time: “Went to The Priory the day before the World Championship started.
“Final question before I left: ‘Can you promise you’ll keep yourself alive over Christmas?’
‘WE’VE GOT THIS’
“So yeah, proud for doing what I needed to, to deal with anorexia/suicidal thoughts.
“Posting this for everyone in the same boat. We’ve got this.”
Davies has also posted about Littler’s brilliant Wolverhampton exploits.
She wrote: “Still can’t believe what we witnessed from Littler in Wolverhampton!
“Produced high averages, stellar comebacks, big finishes, maturity beyond his years but the thing I love most is that you can tell he’s a really massive darts fan like the rest of us.
“Hope he never loses that joy.”
