Chelsea’s new Nike kit for 2017/18 season leaked and looks like 1987 shirt

Leaked images of the new Blues kits for the 2017/18 season are emerging online and hark back to the 1980s

CHELSEA fans have been given an early glimpse of the new Nike kits the team are rumoured to wear next season.

Images leaked on social media claim to reveal the Blues' official 2017/18 strip following the club's mega deal with Nike last year.

And it looks remarkably like a Chelsea kit from 30 years ago... when Chelsea were relegated from the top flight in shame.

The diamond grid shirt was worn by the likes of Pat Nevin and Kerry Dixon for two seasons, from 1987 to 1989.

Chelsea were wearing the kit when they were relegated amid shaming scenes in 1988, when there was a riot at Stamford Bridge following defeat to Middlesbrough in the play-offs.

The Blues however were still wearing the Umbro-designed outfit when they bounced straight back up to the top flight the following season.

Chelsea hit THE jackpot with a British record £900m kit deal in October after announcing they were leaving adidas early to sign a contract for 15 seasons with Nike.

Since the takeover the American sportswear brand have failed to keep their new-look Chelsea shirts under wraps, with similar leaks of a potential third kit and club merchandise released earlier this month.

The images suggest Nike have opted for a diamond design on all three shirts next season, although variations of the home shirt in particular are now also doing the rounds on social media.

Chelsea could be going into the new era with the sportswear giants next season with a Premier League title to defend.

Stamford Bridge boss Antonio Conte hailed their victory over Stoke as significant, and with leading by ten points after 28 matches, he went on to suggest his side will need just seven wins from their remaining games to clinch the title.
