RESPLENDENT GREY (2.33 Sandown, nap)

Has taken really well to chasing this season. Olly Murphy’s six-year-old was impressive when scooting in by an easy five lengths on debut at Uttoxeter in October when jumping nicely. He backed that up when dropped into hotter company at Cheltenham last month. He travelled strongly under today’s pilot Sean Bowen and should really have won that Listed prize. A novicey error at the last was costly in a half-length defeat and he will have learned from that. This three-mile trip is ideal and there’s a lot more to come.

PLANTAROMA (12.35 Sedgefield, nb)

Caught my eye with a good second on hurdles debut and can go one better. She chased home a useful rival at Chepstow who franked the form in style at Haydock on Wednesday. This race looks no tougher and she can get off the mark.

IRIS DES ISSARDS (2.45 Exeter, treble)

Should relish this longer trip after a cracking third over two miles at Exeter on comeback last month. This soft ground is ideal and her handicap mark of 107 looks on the lenient side. There should be more to come with that return under her belt.

THE DOYEN CHIEF (1.00 Exeter)

He ran well on his chase debut at Market Rasen last time when jumping like a natural. He showed his best form over hurdles around this trip and more rain won’t be an issue as he likes it testing.
