'JUST AWFUL'

I’m a darts referee – this is the hardest player to keep score for… and it’s not who you might think

The most difficult person to officiate is not even a proper darts player

DARTS referee Owen Binks has revealed who he finds most difficult to officiate.

PDC ref Binks works at several different types of events on the darts calendar.

He will be at Alexandra Palace for much of the next month as the World Darts Championship descends upon North London.

At Ally Pally, the likes of Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen will be among the star-studded field aiming to claim the £500,000 prize.

While some may think that officials would feel more pressure at the big events, Binks finds reffing at a much lower level considerably more difficult.

Discussing some of his trickier tasks in the sport, Binks pointed to social media stars such as Angry Ginge as more difficult to manage.

In a video, he said: "I'll tell you who's the hardest to referee for... when I do maybe exhibitions but more so the influencers event.

"So when I was refereeing for the likes of Angry Ginge and AwayDays and stuff like that...

"Angry Ginge is a tidy player actually but some of the influencers have never played before.

"That is hard because you've got random segments being hit and there's no patterns.

"We spoke about pattern recognition, there is none. It's just random added up.

"So that's probably the hardest, that is my answer. When you're refereeing for people that are just awful, basically.

"No offence to them, they had a go, and it was all for charity so it was a great event but they are shocking and it was really difficult."
