AN ICE HOCKEY star is set for a spell on the sidelines after his groin was cut in a horror accident.
St. Louis Blues star Radek Faska suffered the injury in an NHL match against the Vancouver Canucks.
He was tussling for the puck with opponent Danton Heinen, who he pushed onto the ice.
But as he fell Heinen's left leg was thrown up in the air and he accidentally caught Faska in his crotch area.
Faska initially continued before realising he was hurt - he then quickly skated off the ice to receive medical attention.
Blues head coach confirmed the skate came close to hitting Faska's private parts, but he may have been saved by an athletic protector.

He said: "I’m not a doctor, but it was real close to his privates. It could’ve been much worse.
"He's doing all right. He got cut by a skate. He took some stitches, but thankfully, no damage."
Faska sat out the game against the San Jose Sharks, which his side lost 4-3.
Sports injury expert Dr. Harjas Grewal commented on the incident and expressed concern for Faska's femoral artery.
