A FOOTBALL stadium opened by Sir Alex Ferguson is now up for sale at just £500,000 — 12 years after its tenants were dissolved.
The Valley Road ground used to be the home of Manchester-based club Flixton FC.
Created in 1960, the club became a popular local fixture in Trafford.
An amateur side, they managed to reach the Northern Premier League in the 1990s.
And they last played in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division before resigning in 2012.
That same year saw them dissolved completely due to poor supporter attendance and revenue.

And it also meant that Flixton’s Valley Ground road became unoccupied.
The stadium was opened in 1995 by Manchester United legend Fergie.
A whopping 2,000 eager fans were able to pack in for a game of non-league football.
But the Valley Ground is now up for sale at auction with a starting price of just £500k.

Hailed as a “unique investment opportunity”, prospective buyers will not just be getting their hands on the stands and pitch.
The price also includes a spacious club house, a car park and changing rooms — as well as a former training field.
The auction house description reads: "Opened in 1995 by Sir Alex Ferguson, the clubhouse includes a large function room with bar to the first floor and a full-length balcony overlooking the pitch.
"It also features a kitchen, toilets and self-contained caretakers apartment. The ground floor benefits a generous bar area, kitchen, meeting rooms, toilets and garage.
“A well-tended grass football pitch measuring 120 yards by 70 yards, making it one of the largest in the country.
"Flixton Football Club is in a well-established residential area, the property is accessible from Valley Road off Woodsend Road and benefits from a secondary access point on Lydney Road."
