BAH HUMBUG
For all his multi–lingual talents that is a phrase that would probably have been lost in translation for Ruben Amorim.
Or at least until now.
For Manchester United will be in the bottom half of the table in the festive season for the first time in the Premier League era.
It’s going to be cold this Christmas, and not just for Marcus Rashford who now knows for sure that there is no room fro him at the inn.
Indeed not since 1989 and the former self of England’s top flight, have they been lower than seventh on New Year’s Day.
But after goals from Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo left them tattered – in bits – they might suffer that same ignominy even if they do win their next two games against Wolves and Newcastle United.
After this humiliation, United fans shouldn’t be holding their breath on them getting anything from those clashes at all.
Bah humbug indeed. Amorim’s team, in the main, were awful while Andoni Iraola’s upwardly – mobile side are now above champions Manchester City in fifth.

Player ratings
"Seems to be struggling, like most of his defensive team mates, with the new system and incapable of doing even the basics."
"Terrible touch early on drew groans from the home fans, the first of a number of sloppy moments."
"Too much of the game passed him by and did not last even the hour as United chased the game."

"We are playing so well" - Martinez
Man Utd defender Lisandro Martinez speaking to Match of the Day: "I always say in this kind of situation we have to show personality and character. We are playing so well and unfortunately, we couldn't score today. We have to believe. At this club, we have to win every game and we know that.
"We are so angry with this kind of situation. We have to work on set-pieces especially. I believe a lot in this team and staff. if they don't score their first goal from set-pieces then it is a totally different game. We missed many chances today. We have to score. We know what we have to do and we have to change quickly.
"We know how big it is at this club. The expectation is very high, it's a process and you can see we are playing so well but we also concede goals and we have to work on that. I know the fans are impatient with us. We are the only ones who can change it.
"It's football and we have to accept it. We are 100% confident that we will get success in this club. It's a process, I don't want to point the finger at one player. We win together, we lose together. It is a big pressure but we love that. I believe a lot in this group."
Rashford return?
Ruben Amorim didn't really elaborate on the Marcus Rashford situation, although did leave the door open for the England international, 27, to return for the clash with Wolves on Boxing Day.
Asked, could Rashford play in the next match, Amorim responded: "It depends, we will see."
"We have to fight" - Amorim
Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It's really hard especially if you saw the game. We concede one foul and then a goal.
"We were winning second balls and creating chances. We conceded a penalty and then the third goal. It was really hard for the fans. We have to go again next game.
"We have a lot of situations where they managed to score a little bit similar to Tottenham. It's really hard on everyone in the stadium. We have to fight this moment.
"We have to maintain the calm when you suffer a goal. It was similar in the last match. The players need to understand the game has different moments. I always expected [this job to be tough], especially in these busy months. We are ready to face the challenge."
"I don't want to jinx it" - Semenyo
Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Feels great, back-to-back wins at Old Trafford - my second time here and my second win.
"I think the most important thing was getting the press right. We were clinical on our end and they were unlucky with their chances.
"We know we have a good team and we are taking it game-by-game. I am not going to say too much and I don't want to jinx it."
"I am happy that we were more clinical today" - Iraola
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola: "It's an important win for us. We won 3-0 but it was more difficult than it looks when you see 3-0. I think we've been quite solid, it was a mature performance. Kepa's performance has helped us this year.
"He [Kepa] has been very good in possession and with positions. I think he is confident and in a very young defensive line, we need players with experience.
"I am happy that we were more clinical today. We scored from a set play. I think it was a solid performance. Not amazing, but it was solid. We kept playing the same way and pushing until the end. After half-time we regrouped and we were better in the second half.
"I value the 28 points. I think the amount of points we have is good. At Christmas, it is a good amount."
Up next…
Manchester United now have three Premier League fixtures before January 5, kicking off with a visit to a rejuvenated Wolves fresh from their 3-0 win over Leicester today.
They'll then host Newcastle on December 30 before a daunting trip to Anfield to take on Arne Slot's Liverpool in the New Year.
As for Bournemouth, they welcome Crystal Palace to the Vitality Stadium on Boxing Day before taking on Fulham on December 29 and then hosting Everton.
The standings
It makes pretty grim reading for Manchester United, who are stuck in 13th position over Christmas. Although a more positive person would say that they remain only six points behind today's victors in 5th spot.
Liverpool remain top courtesy of Everton's 0-0 draw with Chelsea today.
"If we manage to score the first goal then the game should be different" - Amorim
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim: "It's hard to push for two, three wins and we are trying. This game was hard on us.
"We suffered again on set-pieces and we were a bit nervous, I felt it in the stadium. The penalty and another goal are really hard here. We tried to score some goals but it was a tough match so let's move on.
"If you look at the game, we were not conceding anything before the first goal, we had opportunities. If we manage to score the first goal then the game should be different. We want to score but we are too nervous. We have to fight this.
"After the penalty, we need to control the game better because we know this situation is really hard. We have to control better this moment.
"We have to focus on the job and not what you feel in the stadium. It's the only way I know how to focus my players. We have to suffer again but we will try to win. We will do it until the end."
"Massive win"
Bournemouth goalscorer Justin Kluivert is very happy indeed, as you might have expected.
"It's a massive win. Back-to-back wins at this beautiful stadium is amazing," he told Sky Sports. "It's unreal.
"We've been working hard, and building on the same plan. It's amazing with the coach, and with the players we can do something beautiful as you saw today.
"Our philosophy, how we want to play, is full pressure, a lot of energy in the games. That's why we score in every game. That's just the power of us.
"We just try to keep cruising like this. Up the Cherries, happy Christmas!"
Stats
Well, the statistics could be viewed as fairly misleading for this clash with Manchester United having had more shots on target (7), more possession (60%) and a higher xG (2.26) but aside from a couple of moments - Bournemouth didn't look in any real danger of losing today's game.

Wolves powered their way to victory under new manager Vitor Pereira to leave Ruud van Nistelrooy's side in 17th position ahead of their next three against Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

MAN UTD 0-3 BOURNEMOUTH

MAN UTD 0-3 BOURNEMOUTH

Mazraoui fires United's 20th shot over. That's 15 efforts off target today.
MAN UTD 0-3 BOURNEMOUTH
83: "Come on, move it," I can hear someone shouting in the Manchester United end. They eventually did with Hojlund blitzing forward and firing wide. The Cherries respond with a chance of their own as left-back Kerkez strikes just wide.
MAN UTD 0-3 BOURNEMOUTH
80: Could have been 4-0. Kluivert rushes to meet a ball forward and beats the Manchester United goalkeeper before losing control at the crucial moment. And that's his last action of the game as Billing replaces him. Andoni Iraola looking to shut up shop now as we enter the final ten minutes.

Unal comes on for Evanilson, which is horrendous news for my Fantasy Football team. On 25 points with just Salah captain remaining...
It's just not happening. Bruno Fernandes does well to find Diallo on the edge of the box but even the golden boy fires wide.
MAN UTD 0-3 BOURNEMOUTH
70: Bournemouth fans are loving this. Man Utd, it's happened again', referencing the fact the Cherries won 3-0 here last season. I know Manchester United are fresh from a heroic comeback in the derby last week, but surely this is out of their reach, right?
MAN UTD 0-3 BOURNEMOUTH

MAN UTD 0-3 BOURNEMOUTH - SEMENYO
63: Good grief… it's raining goals at Old Trafford - and it's the visitors celebrating again, just minutes after bagging their second.
Manchester United are absolutely falling apart as Semenyo slides it past Onana. It's some great build-up work from Evanilson who robs Mainoo and slides it through to the overlapping Outtara. His cutback is met by an unmarked Semenyo.
MAN UTD 0-2 BOURNEMOUTH - KLUIVERT
