Stats back up Joyce's claim
The stats don't like. Joyce was on fire in that afternoon session. 18 of 29 is exceptional.
Joyce reaction
On getting 62 per cent of his doubles, Joyce told Sky Sports:
"That was the key to winning the match.
"I felt like Ryan Searle had patches in the match where he completely outscored me, and I managed to pinch a couple of legs here and there with really good finishes and that was the difference in the game."
Pikachu's stats from earlier
Williams might have had the better average, but Pikachu was definitely more accurate with his finishes.
Aspinall match stats
60 per cent double success from the Asp, as well as six 180s.
Aspinall 3-1 Gilding (4-0)
With perfect timing Aspinall sinks a 180.
He's closing in, but lost focus on double 12 with a crowd disturbance.
58 will see him over the line, though. And it does. Double 20, for his match dart, and we're done here.
Clean sweep. 4-0.
Aspinall 2-1 Gilding (3-0)
140 puts Aspinall in a great position.
He sets up 74, with Gilding out on 181.
Double 20, then sets up double 10 - but he misses. He'll get another go, though.
And Asp seals the deal on his next go.
Aspinall 1-1 Gilding (3-0)
A disappointing bounce out leaves Gilding scoring just 77.
Gilding responds with a fourth maximum.
Then he seals the leg.
Aspinall 1-0 Gilding (3-0)
Good board management from Gilding leaves him with 170.
However, a 180 from Aspinall leaves him double 19 to take ANOTHER leg.
He goes for six, then double 16 which he misses. But Gilding can capitalise by sinking 36... he scores 30.
Let off for Asp who gets over the line.
Aspinall 3-2 Gilding (3-0)
What a time to take out a ton plus finish!
101, finished with the double 16, and that's the third set.
It was Gilding's to lose, and somehow he blew it.
Aspinall 2-2 Gilding (2-0)
Aspinall is the first to a finish - leaving 150.
He'll have six on this, as Gilding's in the 200s.
86 leaves him 64, decent set up from Asp.
Gilding doesn't put any pressure on at all, and Aspinall gets over the line with the double 8.
Massive leg next.
Aspinall 1-2 Gilding (2-0)
Aspinall has a chance with a good visit for a break.
Nut he can't only score 60. Missed opportunity after Gilding notched 100.
And now it's Gilding that's on a finish of 80, with Aspinall reaching for 115.
Goldfinger gets 40, he can't quit get over the line this time.
Aspinall doesn't get his first ton plus finish, leaving Gilding to cleanly take double tops.

However, he'll get another look at 24.
Eventually, double 9 goes for him.

A 140 from Goldfinger puts pressure on Aspinall who misses his opportunity.
Is it a gift for Gilding? No, he messes up the double 10.
Then the double 16 goes! He won the set there, Aspinall, with 21 darts thrown! Gilding threw away two for the set.
Aspinall 2-2 Gilding (1-0)
140 for Gilding and that'll give him control of this leg.
Aspinall is nowhere near a finish in the 250s.
Gilding leaves 62, he's in no rush.
Goldfinger finds the double 16 to win the leg.
Aspinall 2-1 Gilding (1-0)
It's a second hold of throw from Aspinall.
His finishing today has been top drawer. Five out of six on the doubles.
This time it's the double 7 he gets.
Aspinall 1-1 Gilding (1-0)
Incredible, we've only had one hold of throw from both players.
They're breaking each other at will.
Now, the set is back in Aspinall's hands.
Aspinall 0-1 Gilding (1-0)
Much better start from Goldfinger to this set.
12-darter gives him the opening leg.
Brilliant stuff.
Aspinall 3-1 Gilding (1-0)
A 140 from Asp is followed by a 180 from Goldfinger.
But how's that for a response? Aspinall hits a 180 himself!
Aspinall can take the the set if he finds the bull. He can't, you know, but he will get another pop at the 25 because Gilding can't sink 116.
9 goes, double 8 follows.
Aspinall 2-1 Gilding
57 for a break needed for Aspinall.
Gilding leaves 96, so there's some pressure.
However, Aspinall hits the double tops to secure the leg.
Close it out and he'll go one up.
Aspinall 1-1 Gilding
First 180 of the match goes the way of Goldfinger.
Disappointing last dart from Aspinall doesn't leave him on a finish.
Gilding has a chance to finish 80, But he hits a stray one, before missing two at bull.
Aspinall can't find a 130 checkout - leaving 81.
Gilding punishes him - securing the 45 needed. We're level.
Aspinall 1-0 Gilding
49 leaves Gilding 52.
Nothing really for Aspinall in this opening leg, until he nails 140.
Gilding then misses two darts at tops.
Aspinall steals it with an 84 checkout and the double 11.
Aspinall and Gilding next
Nathan Aspinall and Andrew Gilding make their way to the Ally Pally stage.
First, it's Goldfinger - to Spandau Ballet's Gold.
Then it's Aspinall to THAT sing-a-long classic from The Killers Mr Brightside.
This'll be fun.
Williams 2-3 Pietreczko (1-4)
140, then 100, then 140. nine great darts from Pietreczko.
He's on 121, and he's got time on his side with Williams out on 290.
But he doesn't want it. He seals the deal and wins the match.
Williams 2-2 Pietreczko (1-3)
Williams appears to be faltering in this final leg.
But he does have six at 164. He leaves himself with a two darter on 68.
Pikachu doesn't put the pressure on - leaving 132.
However. double 16 is not found by Shaggy.
However, he's back to win the leg with double 8. That's two on the spin.
