‘He’s always allowed to talk c**p’ – Van Gerwen in savage attack on darts rival Peter Wright AND has cheeky pop at wife

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN has launched a blistering attack on Peter Wright - and appeared to take a cheeky pop at the Scot's homelife too.
MVG booked his place in the quarter-finals of the PDC World Darts Championships - in which he'll face Callan Rydz - on Monday night with a routine win over Jeffrey De Graaf.
Fan favourite Wright wasn't shy about predicting who would win the clash, tipping Rydz to run 'Riot' against Van Gerwen - who didn't take kindly to the prediction.
He said: “I just heard another guy saying that, yeah.”
Van Gerwen then stunningly suggested that Snakebite doesn't have a say over what goes on in his house.
The Dutchman continued: "Every year at the worlds he talks so much nonsense.
"Peter Wright, yeah. He’s always allowed to talk c**p.
"No one takes him seriously on the tour as well because he’s not allowed an opinion at home as well, do you know what I mean?”
Van Gerwen seemingly suggested that Wright's wife Joanne - who styles his wacky and colourful mohawks - runs the show.
The jibe could be in reference to Wright's admission that his other half gives him a weekly allowance - despite him having won MILLIONS during his career.
In an exclusive interview with SunSport, he said: "Me? Lavish purchases? No, I don’t get to!

“I was at a preview night when asked the question.
"Michael van Gerwen’s bought a Rolls Royce or something like that and Michael Smith had bought something else and Gezzy had bought this and that.
“I get my £212-per-week and just like playing my darts and trying to win trophies.
“While Jo is the richest manager in darts!”
His jibe at the Wrights aside, Van Gerwen was impressed by his rival's stunning victory over reigning champion Luke Humphries, which sets him up for a quarter-final clash with fan favourite Stephen Bunting.
He said: "It is what it is. Two good players playing against each other, then, yeah, things like that can happen.
"I was surprised with the way how Peter Wright played.
"I think he played a dominant performance, really fair play to him.”
