  • Clubs wait to see if Rashford & Mainoo go on sale

Premier League clubs are bracing themselves for Manchester United to put the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford on the market.

According to , United's rivals believe part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will put homegrown talent up for sale to stay within financial rules.

That would mean Rashford, Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho would be at risk of being sold by the Old Trafford board.

It was announced today that all 20 Premier League clubs avoided charges over profit and sustainability rules (PSR) for the 2023-24 campaign.

But United’s financial losses mean they give themselves little room for manoeuvre without Champions League football next season.

The club currently sit 13th in the league - with European football well out of sight for now.

But their PSR position would be helped by selling a homegrown player generating “pure profit” after being developed by the club.

That is opposed to selling on a player they have already bought - with Rashford, Mainoo and Garnacho all academy products.

Rashford, 27, is in talks to leave United after revealing in December that he is ready for a "new challenge".

  • 'Every Man U player up for sale'

Manchester United are staring down the barrel of another long, painful and expensive squad rebuild, writes TONY ROBERTSON.

Years of lacklustre recruitment have gone on to bite the Red Devils with a string of horror performances, resulting in the sacking of Erik ten Hag earlier this season, and the club's worst start to a league season in 35 years.

Poor signings also mean there is little flexibility in the market for Ineos transfer chiefs to sign players to elevate Ruben Amorim's squad immediately.

That is part of the reason why every single player has been made available for transfer, including the trio of Rasmus HojlundAlejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo who were made untouchable less than a year ago.

Tough decisions will be made over the coming weeks and going into next summer, with some players struggling to fit the system, others simply not being good enough, or others lacking desire.

Ahead of last summer's window, SunSport gave our verdict on the entire Man Utd squad, but with a host of changes and the winter transfer window open we have taken another look at the men's squad.
