Alexander-Arnold failed to stay in line with the rest of his back four which meant he played Rasmus Hojlund onside for a golden opportunity.

His team-mate Ibrahima Konate could not get back in time so Hojlund got his shot off, but hit it straight at goalkeeper Alisson.

Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid with reports in Spain this week claiming a deal has already been agreed.

Tranmere produced an amusing response to Keane's comments as they shared a photo of their right-back Cameron Norman alongside the caption: "❔ Trent to Tranmere, Roy? Nah, we're alright thanks."
