Golfer arrived at the storm-threatened tournament with a protective boot around his ankle
COLIN MONTGOMERIE showed a mischievous sense of humour when he was asked by security officials at the Masters why he was wearing a large protective boot on his left foot.
He quipped: “I did it kicking my ex-wife!”
Montgomerie, 53, agreed an out-of-court settlement with ex-wife Gaynor Knowles last week after an acrimonious divorce in which they counter-sued each other for £5million.
Monty, who now plays on the Champions Tour in the USA, is working as a commentator for the Golf Channel at Augusta.
He is actually wearing the boot because he damaged ankle ligaments just after the settlement was reached.
He posted pictures of him wearing it on his Twitter account, saying he did it attempting a triple salchow while ice-skating!
