LUKE LITTLER has been congratulated for his darts success by a local bus company - but they spelt his name wrong.

The teen sensation created history when he became the youngest winner of the World Darts Championship last week.

He moved up to second in the world and received a £500,000 jackpot for his achievement.

And in his local town Warrington buses paid tribute to Littler in their own way, but dropped a massive clanger.

Instead of showing the destination and bus number, the screen at the above the windscreen read: "Congratulations, Luke Litter! [sic]. World Champion."

Fans were quick to point out the misspelling of his surname with one saying: "Should have gone to Specsavers."

Littler is now preparing to defend the Bahrain Masters title he won last year.

And he is already targeting defending his Worlds title after his historic win last week.

He said: "If I can go back-to-back, it would mean the world.

"Leading up to it (last year), I thought if I could be in the top four, I’d be happy, but obviously, I finished first because of the way I played.

"But I will just have the same mindset going into it, if you make the play-offs, that is all that matters and just give it your all at the O2.”

Littler hit a nine-darter in last year's Prem final against Luke Humphries and it would be a dream come true to complete one at Ally Pally.

He said: "I would have loved to hit a nine-darter in the World Championships.

"Obviously that is another record that I can try and break for years and years.

"When you’re playing so good, you can feel the nine coming."
