Masters snooker 2025 LIVE RESULTS: Shaun Murphy BEATS Kyren Wilson in dramatic final to land huge £350k payday – updates

SHAUN MURPHY took home the biggest prize of his career to win the Masters on Sunday night at Ally Pally.

Murphy overcame world champ Kyren Wilson to become Masters champion for the second time in his career.

The Magician raced into a 6-2 lead in the afternoon session, but The Warrior fought back in the evening to make the showpiece match 8-7 after 15 frames.

But Murphy held firm despite Wilson’s heart to secure a 10-7 win and the biggest payday of his illustrious career (£350,000).

Earlier in the tournament, The Magician hit a stunning 147 during his semi-final triumph over Mark Allen.

  • *Mark Selby 4-0 Ali Carter (11-73)

A break of 43 comes to an end with Carter attempting a double into the middle pocket which goes astray.

That'll make him feel much better about things.

But he's not quite over the line yet...Selby is back at the table, 62 behind with 59 to play for. He'll need a snooker at some stage. Surely he can't wriggle out this one?

  • Mark Selby 4-0 Ali Carter* (11-31)

With the cue ball in hand, Selby takes on a long pot where he has to be perfect.

He isn't - and doesn't get away with it either leaving one on for Carter.

He simply has to make it count here.

  • *Mark Selby 4-0 Ali Carter (11-30)

Carter is livid. Playing into the reds to send the cue ball round the houses and back to baulk.

But the cue ball fires straight into the heart of the yellow pocket! Four more for Selby!

  • *Mark Selby 4-0 Ali Carter (7-30)

Carter can't catch a break here. He catches the red thin in the safety but plants into the black and sends that in, into the right corner pocket!

    Extraordinary. Seven for Selby.

  • *Mark Selby 4-0 Ali Carter (0-30)

A positive start in the Carter fightback then with a break of 30 to open frame five.

He's forced to play safe again when the break comes to an end but that'll lift his mood after an absolute age without sinking one.

  • Mark Selby 4-0 Ali Carter* (0-5)

Absolute fluke from Carter after the Selby break. He fires a red into the left corner pocket and immediately holds his hands up.

He follows with a clever brown into the middle and now this is a good chance for him!

  • Mark Selby 4-0 Ali Carter

    Break time is over, all!

The players return to a lovely reception from this Ally Pally crowd.

Selby to get us up and running here.

  • Keeping warm

Well it's Selby who is into the practice room and on the tables after a couple of minutes away.

That shows where he is at the minute. A great Championship League display and he looks bang on it here at the minute too.

  • Break time

A wee break then as the players head off, in quite different headspaces one would think.

What do you do if you're both players? Does Selby want to keep warm and get on the practice tables or go and grab a seat with a comfortable lead.

Does Carter want to feel that feeling of actually potting a ball, having not done so for quite some time? Or does he need a bit of time away from the baize?

  • Mark Selby 4-0 Ali Carter

Ruthless from Mark Selby. Just a different class when he's cueing like this.

The only disappointment he'll have is failing to hit another century - a break of 93 in that 93-0 victory in frame four.

Very close to back-to-back tons. But he's playing so, so well and more than deserves this 4-0 lead.

Carter is slumped in his chair and it looked like he was trying to hide a yawn there too. A real uphill task now.

  • *Mark Selby 3-0 Ali Carter (1-0)

It wasn't a great break either and Selby punishes it with a long pot into the left corner pocket.

He gets the cue ball cleaned and grabs a quick drink of water. He has the face of someone that knows he won't be back at his seat for a little while.

    Another huge chance.

  • Mark Selby 3-0 Ali Carter*

Carter to break in frame four.

He doesn't need me to tell him that it's probably quite vital he wins this one.

  • Mark Selby 3-0 Ali Carter

    SENSATIONAL Selby! What a century!

He might've rode his luck in the previous frame where he showed grit to win from an impossible position.

This was different as he strategised a stunningly constructed break of 108 to win 110-1.

Ali Carter is slumped in his seat as he finds himself 3-0 down and he won't have liked watching his opponent turning the screws.

That's the fifth ton of this championship so far. Clinical and classy.

  • *Mark Selby 2-0 Ali Carter (8-1)

Selby takes another red before playing the brown into the middle.

He plays the cue ball into the reds almost certain to leave himself something but ends up close to the black and ruling out nearly every red.

Except one, which he terrifically sticks away into the right corner pocket and he might well be on for a good visit here.

  • Mark Selby 2-0 Ali Carter* (2-1)

Beauty of a red from Selby when Carter is short with his safety.

He's cutely beside the green at the top cushion so opts for the snooker.

  • *Mark Selby 2-0 Ali Carter (1-1)

A point each on the board but we're in a bit of a rut with the reds broken up but no real rhythm yet.

  • Mark Selby 2-0 Ali Carter

Anyway, Selby's back and he'll get frame three underway.

  • Sidenote

As Mark Selby nips out for a quick break, I've just been reminded of a disagreement me and the wife had.

I think there's more than a bit of Harvey Specter - the greatest character in television - in Selby. But she doesn't see ANY resemblance.

    Really?

  • Mark Selby 2-0 Ali Carter

Ali Carter will be absolutely SPEWING!

Selby was out of this frame on more than one occasion and that green-to-brown from Carter was a howler.

Still not sure what he was trying and it was almost inevitable what was going to happen from there.

Selby is almost handed the brown with a poor safety from Carter and he clears up to nick the frame 63-59 in just over 40 minutes.

  • *Mark Selby 1-0 Ali Carter (41-59)

Selby pots the cue ball and hands the initiative to Carter, who pots the red and follows up with the blue.

He just needs to pot beyond the brown here to for the frame, though the brown is an issue against the top cushion.

Not sure what he tries when potting the green but he misses the brown altogether, bouncing the cue ball off the top cushion and away from the brown. So Selby is back and needs every ball here.

  • Mark Selby 1-0 Ali Carter* (41-44)

A Carter slip-up allows Selby a chance to stun a red into the yellow pocket.

It's still a difficult pot but again one he'd back himself to pot nine times out of ten.

But it's hit with plenty of pace and the red smashes the jaws and to safety. A let-off for Carter.

  • Mark Selby 1-0 Ali Carter* (41-44)

It's a game of snookers/safeties at the minute, neither player looking to give an inch, as you'd expect.

    A critical point here.

  • Mark Selby 1-0 Ali Carter* (41-44)

A really, REALLY good snooker in fact as Carter hits the pink first.

Six more points for Selby who has clawed himself back into the frame slowly but surely.

He puts Carter back in to play from there.

  • Mark Selby 1-0 Ali Carter* (35-44)

A break of 23 for Selby who was a tad unfortunate having to go round the houses on the black to get back down for the red on the bottom cushion.

He canons into the brown, leaving him no sort of shot here.

But it's an exquisite snooker, leaving the red behind the pink on the right cushion and the cue ball far enough away.

  • *Mark Selby 1-0 Ali Carter (14-44)

It's Carter who goes for a long pot which doesn't come off, allowing Selby onto the table and he pots a great red.

Can he close this 30-point gap with these three reds remaining?
