The Italian giants sent a representative to Merseyside to push for the move and attempt to sign him with a pre-contract arrangement.
Calvert-Lewin’s Goodison deal runs out at the end of this season.
So Atalanta could get him tied up for next term — but even sign him now if the Toffees play ball.
DCL, 27, has Newcastle waiting for him in the summer, when they plan to land him on a free transfer.
But Atalanta — second in Serie A — are an interesting option for Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin has struggled to find the back of the net in recent seasons.
The 11-time England international hasn't hit double digits for goals in the Premier League since the 2020/21 season.
So far this term he has scored two goals and registered one assist in 19 league appearances.
