Newcastle could miss out on Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer with Serie A giants ready to move for Everton star this month

Newcastle are waiting for Calvert-Lewin in the summer

ATALANTA want to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin for their title charge.

The Italian giants sent a representative to Merseyside to push for the move and attempt to sign him with a pre-contract arrangement.

Calvert-Lewin’s Goodison deal runs out at the end of this season.

So Atalanta could get him tied up for next term — but even sign him now if the Toffees play ball.

DCL, 27, has Newcastle waiting for him in the summer, when they plan to land him on a free transfer.

But Atalanta — second in Serie A — are an interesting option for Calvert-Lewin.

They are also 13th in the Champions League and likely to play in it again next term.

Newcastle can offer Calvert-Lewin a big payday if he waits.

So Atalanta will have to come up with a lucrative contract AND a transfer fee to win the race right now.

Atalanta have swooped up Everton's talent in the past, signing Ben Godfrey from the Toffees last summer.
