‘I was not asked’ – Former world darts champion ‘feels disrespected’ after being snubbed from World Seniors

Fans all said the same thing as they reacted to ace's outburst

FORMER world darts champion Keith Deller admits feeling “disrespected” after being snubbed from the World Seniors Darts Championship.

The fan-favourite event kicks off next month on February at Essex’s Circus Tavern and runs until February 22.

A host of top darts names will take part, including Steve Beaton, Simon Whitlock, Mervyn King and defending champ John Henderson.

But there was one notable name missing from the competitors.

Deller, 65, was just 23-years-old when he won the World Darts Championship in 1983.

He beat the iconic Eric Bristow in a major upset in the final.

Deller also knocked out world No2 Jocky Wilson AND world No3 John Lowe on his incredible run to the title.

However, he has not been invited to this year’s Seniors event.

Deller revealed on X that nobody had asked him to compete despite his background and advanced age.

And he also took aim at chiefs for bringing along players who are still in their mid-40s, which Deller insists does not make them seniors.

He said: “I was not asked so feel disrespected. Some of the players who are invited have not even won a TV event.

“I’m sorry but 45 and over is middle aged, it’s not senior.”

One fan said: “Where is Keith Deller? There’s a large group of us that go up to see Keith. Probably won’t bother now without him.”

Another declared: “How can a British and World champ not be invited?”

One noted: “You should have been in there, no question.”

Another added: “Can’t believe a world champ hasn’t been asked, it’s ludicrous.”
