Luke Humphries is through!
Luke Humphries 6-0 Abdulla Saeed
The world number one in exceptional form there, what a ridiculous performance.
Six legs won on the spin - all with ONE dart at double. He didn't miss the outer ring at all!!
A 103.66 average, poor Abdulla Saeed must not have known what hit him. All he could do was smile and laugh.
Humphries is through!
Luke Humphries 5-0 Abdulla Saeed*
Luke Humphries has hit five doubles from a possible five. He hasn't missed a double yet.
A terrific 180 with 204 left meant he was coming back for D12 and takes it in one with his opponent closer than ever at 147!
Can the big man hold throw to get one leg on the board at least!?
*Luke Humphries 4-0 Abdulla Saeed
Absolutely absurd from Humphries this and he gets an embrace from Saeed this time.
You feel for the Bahraini thrower, not many in the world would be able to compete with Humphries in this mood.
A 12-dart break of throw, culminating in a 144 checkout (T20, T20, D12). Ridiculous throwing at any level.
Luke Humphries 3-0 Abdulla Saeed*
Humphries opens with his third maximum of the night and leaves 100 after nine darts.
He comes back and hits T20, D20 for a classy 11-darter and a chuckle from Saeed waiting to throw. He offers Humphries a slap of the hand, he's watching a man rolling along.
*Luke Humphries 2-0 Abdulla Saeed
A break of throw and his average up near 101 at this stage from Humphries.
A 151 check out certainly helps!
Saeed this time left on 192, so he's definitely getting closer!
Luke Humphries 1-0 Abdulla Saeed*
This looks like being another rather one-sided affair, as we probably expected.
A terrific checkout to take out 78 with his opponent left back on 277. Ruthless from Luke Humphries as you'd expect.
They're loving it!
Abdulla Saeed all smiles as he takes in the ovation from the crowd, he looks absolutely buzzing which is great to see!
Luke Humphries whips the crowd up to I Predict A Riot and looks super relaxed as he hugs his opponent ahead of this one.
Luke Humphries to throw first.
Home favourite!
This one is one of the highlights of the night for this crowd.
It's Bahrain thrower Abdulla Saeed taking on world number one Luke Humphries!
Safe passage
Chris Dobey averaging in the low-mid 90s with Mahmood back on 76.
Routine win for Dobey then who'll be glad to have a win like that under his belt on his first visit here.
He'll play fellow debutant Stephen Bunting in tomorrow's last eight!
Chris Dobey coasts through!
Chris Dobey 6-0 Basem Mahmood
We'll keep it friendly, that was a bit of a mismatch.
Mahmood had two darts in the second leg to win a leg, other than that he was miles behind Dobey.
After taking out 84 on the bullseye in the fifth leg, Dobey does the same again to take out 83 to win the match.
Great finishing from him to sail through to tomorrow's next round!
Chris Dobey 5-0 Basem Mahmood*
So, so clinical from Dobey as Mahmood actually leaves a finish this time on 106.
Dobey isn't too far ahead on 84 after 12 darts and has to dance around the board before finding the centre of the bullseye to check it out. Superb.
*Chris Dobey 4-0 Basem Mahmood
Four-nil. Dobey has been relatively good but not amazing, there's just zilch coming back from his opponent.
He's trusting the double-16 quite a bit, Dobey and again just needs one go at it from 52 remaining.
This might well be the longest 6-0 match in history at this rate...
Chris Dobey 3-0 Basem Mahmood*
Dobey coasting at the minute. But it's a beauty of a ton-plus finish to wrap up the hold of throw.
A 112-out ending on a good D16 with Mahmood back over 200. No pressure on it but still a classy check out.
*Chris Dobey 2-0 Basem Mahmood
A break of throw for Dobey as Mahmood misses two darts at a double for a hold.
Dobey took 21 darts for that too, so it wasn't like Mahmood didn't have a chance.
Dobey sets up D16 and a wry smile after missing his first two at it. He takes it on his third dart.
Chris Dobey 1-0 Basem Mahmood*
Basem Mahmood's throw described as 'slow and deliberate'.
It's almost like pulling teeth, the time between each dart.
Anyway that's what he feels comfortable with and he's left on 258 as Dobey already has a chance to check out 24, which he does with relative ease.
Strong start from him after a maximum earlier in the leg.
*Chris Dobey 0-0 Basem Mahmood
It'll be Dobey to throw first.
First to six legs remember!
Walk-ons
Arabian number one Basem Mahmood looked absolutely thrilled walking up there, like he was right at home!
Geordie Chris Dobey coming out to a PJ & Duncan classic and looks ready to go himself!
Onto match four
And it's another PDC debutant here in Chris Dobey.
He takes on uncle Basem Mahmood.
Just kidding, he's no relation. But his surname is similar so that counts as a cracking wee joke there.
Great first round win
Really good from Stephen Bunting, particularly on his doubles with only a couple missed across the eight legs played.
An average of near 96, a 145 in the opening leg and 122 checkout later in the match showed he's still in really good form ahead of a big year for him.
He moves into the last-eight tomorrow. Nitin Kumar with a fine display himself.
Stephen Bunting is through!
Stephen Bunting 6-2 Nitin Kumar
Nearly an incredible checkout on 125 for Kumar, hitting bull then 25 and just missing bullseye for a stunning finish.
Bunting then can't answer and Kumar comes back for 25, missing two darts at the double for the leg.
That allows Bunting to sneak back in on 36 and take it out with one dart. A clinic in finishing from Stephen Bunting.
*Stephen Bunting 5-2 Nitin Kumar
A rare missed dart at double for Bunting as he fails to take out D20.
That allows Kumar an opportunity to clean up 48 and he goes the 16s route to do just that.
He's played really well here actually but Bunting's finishing has been class. And he now throws for the match.
Stephen Bunting 5-1 Nitin Kumar*
Kumar does well to leave himself on 62 on the Bunting throw, putting pressure on the Englishman's 80.
Surely not another break of throw in this match?
Bunting only gets one dart at a double as he hits 20, 20 but his doubles have been solid and he finds double top.
One away.
*Stephen Bunting 4-1 Nitin Kumar
A 14-dart break of throw for Bunting in response to losing his throw in the leg prior.
A punch of the air from him too as he recognises he's taken a big step towards the next round tomorrow.
Four out of five on the doubles for Bunting after taking out 60 in two darts. Ruthless.
Stephen Bunting 3-1 Nitin Kumar*
Well then...
Kumar again first to a double and again has plenty of chances at it as Bunting toils in the scoring in those one, having thrown first.
Kumar comes back needing D8 having hit a single 19 looking for double in the visit before and he hits it for the break.
*Stephen Bunting 3-0 Nitin Kumar
Different class from Stephen Bunting. Absolutely blowing his Indian opponent away.
Having said that, Kumar had three goes at D16 for the leg which all missed the board.
He would've thought he'd come back for it with Bunting back on 122 but T18, T18, D7 later and it's another storming checkout from Bunting to break again.
