Masters contender William McGirt’s amazing bunker shot and putt show Augusta’s crazy slopes
American was out of position on both holes but reeled off back-to-back miracles to stay in hunt for green jacket
WILLIAM McGIRT'S incredible bunker shot and putt showed off Augusta's crazy slopes.
The Masters contender put his tee shot on the par-three fourth in the front bunker and was left with a devilish shot.
But rather than going right at the pin, he flew his second shot a good 25ft past the hole.
It was then down to the lie of the land to get it close... and it worked.
The ball picked up pace as it travelled nearer to the hole and McGirt was able to watch it get closer and closer.
A few feet away it was destined for the bottom of the cup and McGirt raised his arms in celebration as it went in.
Then, on the next hole, the American was left with a long putt from just off the green for a birdie three.
But his effort did not even make it a quarter of the way to the hole before stopping.
Faced with a horrible putt left for par, McGirt just breathed on the putt and off it went.
Just like the hole before, it picked up pace as it neared the cup and looked like it would drop.
As luck would have it, it did, for an amazing par save.
