MARK DAWES is one of the most exciting players in indoor bowls, having won four world champion titles in his career.
He will be competing at the 2025 World Indoor Bowls Championships, where he hopes to win yet another medal.
Bowls prodigy
Mark was born on January 7, 1983.
Although he works as a financial analyst day-to-day, Mark is also a bowls champion.
His indoor club is Blackpool Newton Hall, whom he has represented in many competitions, but he is renowned for competing internationally.
In the 2012-15 season, Mark won a tour card entry to the World Bowls Tour (WBT) events and earned a quarter final place in both the Scottish and International Opens.

His reputation has continued to rise over the years and he eventually took home the World Indoor Singles and Pairs titles in 2018.
Mark repeated his success in 2021, taking home both titles for a second time.
The star favours the Tiger Bowl, which has been named the most successful bowl design.
It has been used by seven different players in winning 11 World Indoor Singles Championships.
Love of sports
When he’s not on the bowling green, Mark enjoys spending time with his two sons.
Mark’s sons, Thomas and Freddie, share his love of sports and regularly travel with him to support their beloved football team Radcliffe FC.
The award-winning bowls player regularly shares adorable family pictures on his social media accounts, including his X account @Northernbowler.
Fifth time lucky?
Mark took on Ronnie Duncan at the World Indoor Bowls Championships on January 16, 2025.
However it wasn't to be for the Englishman as he lost 2-0.
Ronnie is also a successful player - but has never won at the World Indoors.
However, he did claim two gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and won the first Scottish National Bowls Championships in 2024.
Mark is back in action on Friday, January 17, 2025, in the mixed pairs alongside Chelsea Spencer.
