Masters 2025 LIVE RESULTS: Rory McIlroy in tears after FINALLY winning at Augusta but Scheffler branded ‘classless’
RORY McILROY fell to his knees and later broke down in tears after he FINALLY WON the Masters and got his hands on the prestigious Green Jacket.
After what has been more than a decade of heartbreak at Augusta, Rory won the Masters title to complete the Grand Slam and cement himself as one of the elites.
He had to do it the hard way after going to a play-off with Ryder Cup team-mate Justin Rose, as McIlroy had missed a five footer for par on the 72nd green.
But the golfing great held his nerve to win that elusive Masters crown before later breaking down in tears during a TV interview.

He breaks down in tears speaking about his mum and dad.
They've famously done so much in his earlier days to put him in the position he is today.
"I just can't wait to see them and celebrate with them next week."
McIlroy reacts
Rory is sat alongside Scottie Scheffler in The Butler Cabin, awaiting his green jacket presentation.
He said: "It feels incredible.
"This is my 17th time here and I've wondered if it would ever be my time.
"With the burden of the grand slam on me, I wonder what we'll all talk about going into next year's Masters.
"I'm just so pleased to be the Masters champion."
And not to forget
It's Europe's first Grand Slam hero.
For the first time in 25 years
We have a player in the men's professional golf game to complete the career grand slam.
He becomes only the sixth player in the HISTORY of golf to have achieved it.
Not since Tiger Woods in 2000 has this been accomplished. And we witnessed it.

He pitches a wedge just beyond Rose's ball on the backstop in the centre of the green.
It looks like they'll have identical putts before the ball spins and spins and just keeps coming.
He leaves himself 4 feet away!

Rose to play in first then and he's got 8 iron in hand.
Just over 150 yards to the pin, what sort of pressure can he put on McIlroy here.
It's bang on line as it flies in towards the hole and pitches just a few yards long and rolls out to 20ft.
Terrific shot in from him. What is the McIlroy reply?

And he's down picking his tee up almost straight after hitting it.
It flies through the air and looks like it has landed about five yards from where his shot landed here 15 minutes ago!

Justin Rose to tee off first. He's teed it up a little lower and has the big stick out.
And he's found the fairway, tight down the right hand side.
But fairway was the most important and Rose has done exactly that.
At the tee
McIlroy is down at the 18th tee already.
Rose is being transported up on a buggy.
The pair share a handshake on the tee and it's all relatively quiet at this part.
How the play off works
The players will head down hole 18 again.
Rose after a sensational birdie to post -11.
McIlroy after that bogey to drop to -11!

How does he pick himself up from that to go again?
All because Justin Rose sunk a monster 25ft on 18 to post the clubhouse lead at -11.
You were just never comfortable with him over this putt....

A tiny tap of the golf ball and it just falls too low.

He has 25ft for birdie to finish things off.
He's a little high and the ball rolls a couple of feet by.
He finishes -7 and in a tie for 5th.

He's splashed it out and leaves himself around 6ft.
Just six feet for McIlroy to win the Masters.

McIlroy looked like he was bailing out a little bit as he aims it out right.
It doesn't quite come back and he SPLASHES into the greenside bunker to the right of the green.
