Masters 2025 LIVE RESULTS: Rory McIlroy in tears after FINALLY winning at Augusta but Scheffler branded ‘classless’

RORY McILROY fell to his knees and later broke down in tears after he FINALLY WON the Masters and got his hands on the prestigious Green Jacket.
After what has been more than a decade of heartbreak at Augusta, Rory won the Masters title to complete the Grand Slam and cement himself as one of the elites.
He had to do it the hard way after going to a play-off with Ryder Cup team-mate Justin Rose, as McIlroy had missed a five footer for par on the 72nd green.
But the golfing great held his nerve to win that elusive Masters crown before later breaking down in tears during a TV interview.

Hole 18 – McIlroy (-12) DeChambeau (-7)
Huge hit from DeChambeau too as he goes down the right side of the fairway.
Two terrific hits. McIlroy's given an "eleven out of ten" by Sir Nick Faldo.
Hole 18 – McIlroy (-12) DeChambeau (-7)
Here he comes. Driver in hand. Just needing to hit the fairway you'd think.
It's a huge hit down the fairway! To the left of centre and in prime position to get near this 18th pin.
18th hole - Aberg (-6)
A triple bogey for Aberg up the last - my word.
A 5, 7 to finish for him after having a putt to take the lead on 16.
Heading to the 18th tee
- McIlroy -12
- Rose -11 (F)
Hole 17 – McIlroy (-12) DeChambeau (-7)
That approach shot, wow.
To hold his nerve for a long time for that birdie attempt, wow.
The noise around the 17th green - wow!
BIRDIE FOR MCILROY!!!!
Hole 17 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-7)
DeChambeau's par putt is low, falling to the left. Bogey for him to move back to -7.
Might that give McIlroy a clue where his is going?
Hole 17 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-8)
DeChambeau has had two shots since McIlroy's approach and even the pitch is outside McIlroy's ball.
He's being made to wait for this birdie attempt as Bryson dances around this hole without getting it close, yet.
Hole 18 - Aberg (-9)
Aberg finds a fairway bunker on 18.
Looks to take it on to try and find the green, instead smashing it into the face of the bunker and it stays in there.
An ugly end for the Swede.
Hole 17 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-8)
MAGIC FROM MCILROY!
From around 180 yards, he flights his 8 iron right into the air and chases after it screaming for it to go.
Ohhh boy did it go! It pitches at the front of the green and releases out to leave himself 8ft for birdie on the penultimate hole!
Hole out!
It's Patrick Reed who has holed out on the 17th to card a 2 on the par 4!
He's up to -9, so not quite in contention with one to play - unless he does the same on 18!
Hole 17 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-8)
DeChambeau in tree trouble down the right.
McIlroy taking 3-wood and will have seen that but also won't want to go left. Many players have been blocked out there today.
He takes his 3-wood down the right side of the fairway and finds the short grass. It's a long way in from there but at least he has a shot at it.
Then there were two
McIlroy and Rose locked together on -11.
Rory with two to play, Rose posting his score and sitting watching in the clubhouse.
Hole 17 – Aberg (-9)
Three-putt for Aberg on 17.
That first one was a tester but to leave 10-12ft on the way back was a real lapse at the wrong time.
That will be that for him and his contention in the Masters this year.
Hole 16 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-8)
So, so close again for McIlroy as his snaky putt sneaks on by.
That would've been some birdie and given him a bit of daylight heading into the last two.
DeChambeau birdies to move to -8.
As it stands
- -11: Rose (F), McIlroy (putting for birdie on 16)
- -10: Aberg (putting for par on 17)
Hole 18 – Justin Rose (-11)
What a putt from Rose - BIRDIE ON 18!
He sets the target in the clubhouse with that terrific 30ft putt - and that was his TENTH birdie of the day.
Rose jumps back alongside McIlroy at the top of the leaderboard. He's done all he can...
Hole 16 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-7)
Par 3 next on 16 for McIlroy and it'll take a long one to get it to the back.
Not much room to work with either way as he sends it into the air and towards the right of the pin, with the pressure he's under.
McIlroy pitches it towards the back of the green and it begins to roll back. He's left with 15ft or so for birdie to give himself some breathing space.
DeChambeau is even better, just 10ft for him!
Hole 17 – Aberg (-10)
Yowza! Aberg's putt on 17 for a birdie is a speedy one and he's trying to give it a chance.
But he's missed it low to the left and sent it 12ft beyond!
A real tester coming back to save his par...
Hole 15 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-7)
Bryson found the water and still managed to make par getting up and down well from there.
