Masters 2025 LIVE RESULTS: Rory McIlroy in tears after FINALLY winning at Augusta but Scheffler branded ‘classless’

RORY McILROY fell to his knees and later broke down in tears after he FINALLY WON the Masters and got his hands on the prestigious Green Jacket.
After what has been more than a decade of heartbreak at Augusta, Rory won the Masters title to complete the Grand Slam and cement himself as one of the elites.
He had to do it the hard way after going to a play-off with Ryder Cup team-mate Justin Rose, as McIlroy had missed a five footer for par on the 72nd green.
But the golfing great held his nerve to win that elusive Masters crown before later breaking down in tears during a TV interview.

Hole 18 – Justin Rose (-10)
Rose finds the green with his second shot on the par 4 finale.
He has about 30ft for birdie to post a score for the other two to beat.
Hole 17 – Aberg (-10)
Fair play, that was really good to find himself 30ft from the pin.
He's right of the pin but pin high with a chance for birdie to heap the pressure on the other two.
Hole 15 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-6)
RORY!! SPINE-TINGLING STUFF!!!
He sends a high hook into the air for his second shot and screams "goooo" as he walks after it.
It does go, and it lands to the right of the green and the slopes help it roll and trickle towards the pin, leaving him 12ft for eagle.
World class.
Hole 15 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-7)
I was doing DeChambeau a disservice, he birdied the previous hole and is now -7.
But his second shot into the 15th lands in the water before the green.
Hole 16 – Aberg (-10)
Aberg finds the fringe at the back of the 16th green with his tee shot on the par 3.
He rolls his putt to within a few feet and takes the safe, easy birdie.
Hole 15 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-6)
On course commentators suggest he is blocked out from the green and won't get home in two.
Just his luck when he does actually find the fairway.
Hole 15 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-6)
Big drive upcoming for McIlroy on the par 5, 15th hole.
He looks to have finally found a fairway with the big stick, down the left side.
Hopefully for him it gives him a shot at the green from this position and set up a chance to get one of those shots back.
Hole 17 - Justin Rose (-10)
And the drama continues - BOGEY FOR ROSE.
His 6ft putt for par slides by to the left and we now have joint leaders of three!
- -10: Rose, McIlroy, Aberg
- -8: Scheffler
Hole 15 - Ludvig Aberg (-10)
Birdie for Aberg!
The final par 5 of the day and Aberg has capitalised.
A good four from him gets him to within one of the lead - he has three to play!
Hole 14 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-6)
McIlroy does superbly to get a big slice round the tree giving him bother and towards the green.
He chases after it but the ball comes up just short of the green and drifts off the front right.
Work to do.
Hole 14 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-6)
The noise around Augusta when the leaderboards changed to show McIlroy and Rose move to -11 was deafening.
Nobody could believe what was happening.
McIlroy sends his 14th tee shot down the right and into the pines. What sort of shot will he have in? It doesn't look great at first glance...
Hole 17 – Justin Rose (-11)
Rose's tee shot on 17 goes a little left.
It looks to have sat down in the second cut and there are overhanging trees to navigate.
Interesting second shot to come.
Hole 16 – Justin Rose (-11)
Rose ties the lead!
He sinks that putt on 16 for a 2 on the par 3 and Rose ties McIlroy for the lead at the top!
He's -4 on the back 9!
Hole 13 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-6)
Bogey putt MISSED!
It just snakes by as McIlroy taps it down the hill and he's taken a SEVEN after a perfect second shot lay up on the par 5.
Complete brain fog.
This could be all change
McIlroy takes his drop and plays the shot he should've played the first time.
He's now 10ft from the hole and putting for bogey!
Rose has 12ft or so for birdie - they could be all-square at the top in a couple of minutes!
Hole 13 – McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-6)
Oh Rory - what have you done!??
Absolutely no need to take this pin position on at all. The contours allow him to play into the heart of the green and let it funnel down.
Just 89 yards from the pin.
He plays to the left of the pin and it is short of the green, hitting the bank and trickles into the WATER!
Really not what he needed at all.
Hole 16 – Justin Rose (-10)
Fabulous tee shot on the par 3 here from Rose, leaving himself 10ft for birdie to move to -11!
He's right in contention if that goes in!
Hole 13 – McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-6)
McIlroy lays up down the left side of the 13th hole.
Very sensible play from him instead of chasing it and he's in the perfect position to attack this pin position.
Blimey
Rose does make birdie to move to -10 and three back.
Reed misses his 3ft putt for birdie to leave 5ft for par - which also misses!
A bogey for him, you hate to see it.
