Masters 2025 LIVE RESULTS: Rory McIlroy in tears after FINALLY winning at Augusta but Scheffler branded ‘classless’

RORY McILROY fell to his knees and later broke down in tears after he FINALLY WON the Masters and got his hands on the prestigious Green Jacket.
After what has been more than a decade of heartbreak at Augusta, Rory won the Masters title to complete the Grand Slam and cement himself as one of the elites.
He had to do it the hard way after going to a play-off with Ryder Cup team-mate Justin Rose, as McIlroy had missed a five footer for par on the 72nd green.
But the golfing great held his nerve to win that elusive Masters crown before later breaking down in tears during a TV interview.

Hole 13 – McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-6)
Two par 5s in the next three holes for McIlroy and DeChambeau, where shots maybe could and should be made up.
Both players take 3-wood off the tee and send them down the centre of the fairway.
Hole 12 – McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-6)
DeChambeau leaves his par putt short. His head has gone completely here unfortunately.
Tapped in for bogey.
McIlroy taps his in for par after him to stay four clear.
Hole 12 – McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-7)
Bryson splashes out the greenside bunker and even with the backspin, it trundles 10ft beyond.
McIlroy cosies his birdie putt up there, not even contemplating taking the pin on and having the ball roll on by. He's left 3ft for par.
Hole 13 – Aberg (-9) Day (-7)
Huge, swinging eagle putt for Aberg on 13 as he aims a good 20ft to the right of the pin.
It's a great read too as it rolls by the hole at a dying speed.
Tap in birdie for him after the bogey at 12 and he's back to -9 and into a tie for second.
Hole 12 – McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-7)
"Safe", Sir Nick Faldo says as McIlroy finds the back of the 12th green.
He's on the flat stuff and avoided the water trouble so you have to say it was the right play.
DeChambeau's tee shot bounces through the green and into the bunker off the back.
Onto the next
And the daunting 12th hole tee shot on this par 3.
A bogey there but hopefully he's aware it doesn't matter too much with dropped shots all around him.
Hole 11 – McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-7)
And the McIlroy lead is cut back to just the four shots.
His putt for par is a little cagey and finishes low of the hole.
Playing partner DeChambeau doesn't fare much better. His bogey putt misses by a couple of feet and it's a double bogey for him.
McIlroy comes back to tidy up his par.
Hole 11 – McIlroy (-14) DeChambeau (-9)
Both men now with 10ft putts after McIlroy's tentative approach.
He has his testing putt for par - DeChambeau's is for bogey.
Hole 14 – Justin Rose (-9)
The McIlroy lead is now FIVE.
Rose couldn't save par having found tree trouble from his drive and his par putt from 12ft finishes low of the hole.
Back to -9.
Hole 11 – McIlroy (-14) DeChambeau (-9)
No such luck for DeChambeau - he's in the pond!
Too much draw again from his iron in the middle of the fairway and it's always turning left in the air before splashing in the greenside pond.
He'll need to take a drop and it's damage limitation here.
Hole 11 – McIlroy (-14) DeChambeau (-9)
Lucky boy, Rory!
He plays a hook round the tree that's blocking him out, looking for it to run up to the green.
Instead, it hits the fairway and almost goes straight right, stopping 3ft short of the top of the hill to take it down to the water!
Hole 12 - Aberg (-8) Day (-7)
Poor 9-iron from Aberg into the par 3, 12th hole and he clears the green down the left.
He chips on and it's short, before missing his par putt. That's a shot gone for him.
Hole 14 – Justin Rose (-10)
Bit of a hooked tee shot from Rose off the tee on 14 and into the trees.
He now has to snap hook one round a tree and let it run up the green. It gets midway up the green before rolling back and off at the front.
Hole 11 – McIlroy (-14) DeChambeau (-9)
A par 4 here and McIlroy is pleading with his ball to go as he sends it down the right.
The shot tracer showing it continues to fade and fade out to the right.
He could well be blocked out by a tree or two down there, which he'll assess when getting there.
A bomb from DeChambeau down the centre of the fairway.
Hole 10 – McIlroy (-14) DeChambeau (-9)
DeChambeau tidies up for his par.
He's five back now.
Hole 10 – McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-9)
DeChambeau putting first and he misses the left hand side of the hole by a couple of feet.
Not a good line and he rolls 5ft past again.
Tricky one to come back to save par as Rory lines up his birdie attemp from 15ft.
Hole 13 - Justin Rose (-10)
So close to a Rose eagle!
Rose finds the 13th green in two. He has 35ft for eagle and it's a huge swinging putt.
He sends it out to the left and it is always turning towards the hole for him and it looks destined for the cup but stays up agonisingly.
He throws himself onto his stomach on the ground, he can't believe it hasn't dropped!! Still, it's a birdie and he's into second place.
Hole 10 - McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-9)
I was wrong, DeChambeau's ball didn't pass McIlroy's so he's first into the 10th green.
Ball above his feet, he catches the left side of the green. About 30ft from the pin.
McIlroy up next. He's hit it and drops the club - oh no, where's this one going!?
It pitches 20ft short and releases another couple of feet below the hole. Absolutely perfect!
Onto the back nine
How are we only halfway through this final round? Bloomin' heck.
Not sure I can stomach nine more holes of this. Yet at the same time, it's an absolute thrill to watch.
Rory on the tee hits a 5-wood safely down the fairway as DeChambeau goes behind him to smash one by him.
Hole 9 – McIlroy (-13) DeChambeau (-9)
BIRDIE MCILROY!
Dead centre of the cup to move four shots clear and put the pressure on DeChambeau after him.
It's a pressure he can't manage. DeChambeau doesn't even touch the hole as it rolls a couple of feet beyond the hole.
He'll tap in for par to stay at -9. But McIlroy's lead is extended!
Hole 9 – McIlroy (-12) DeChambeau (-9)
Great approach shots from both players, who both came in from the fairway for a nice change!
McIlroy about 14ft and Bryson about 12ft. Not gimme birdies by any stretch but those below them are starting to make some so they need to pick up one or two, and soon.
