  • Whittaker tears

Ben Whittaker had to fight back tears in the post-fight press conference as he relived what has been difficult fallout after the first fight ended in a controversial draw.

Whittaker said: "Truthfully, nothing has changed if I'm honest, I knew I should be doing that to people like Liam Cameron, no disrespect, but it was the six months out."

He then started to fight back tears and only continued after he heard cheers and encouragement from those in the room.

"Stuff like my brother had two daughters, I couldn’t really enjoy it too much because of what I was going through online," he added.

"And it didn't really bother me, but even close friends, people that I classed as family, left me.

"They had a lot to say about me, but it was a great time to go back to the old Ben Whittaker."

  • 'Give him a break'

Former world champion Tony Bellew has also defended Ben Whittaker for his antics in the Liam Cameron corner moments after the KO.

Bellew wrote on social media: "Ben Whittaker had his career on the line tonight… it’s his first and won’t be his last time.

"The pressure in them Fights is enormous and I think he handled it great.

"The most fight antics is just emotion and relief! Give the young lad a break, I believe he’s a huge talent."

  • Whittaker on corner beef: ‘It might have been dribble’

Whittaker said: “Liam told me nobody hit me like that.

“But what happened in Saudi needed to happen for me, I needed that reality check.”

He denied spitting at Cameron’s corner – and there’s absolutely no proof that he did, but he asked about it by the interviewer.

Whittaker replied: “They are portraying me as a bad guy, but I work very hard, I was roaring like a lion.

“If a bit of dribble came out, dribble came out.”

  • Nelson defends Whittaker

Former boxer Johnny Nelson said on Sky Sports: "It was emotion coming out. Frustration.

"Because of what he's gone through, he's been vilified.

"It's him saying 'I'm not washed up, everything you've said about me is complete rubbish'.

    "It's human emotion."

  • Callum Simpson SLAMS Whittaker’s actions

Simpson said: “It just shows doesn’t it (why Whittaker was booed in his home town of Sheffield).

“When you know what a good person Grant Smith is, I think it’s bang out of order.

“I think he’s very lucky he’s got Andy Lee in his corner, who spoke for him and took him over to Cameron’s corner.”

  • Whittaker nearly slapped

Ben Whittaker was almost slapped by Liam Cameron’s trainer after showboating in his face.

The 27-year-old stopped his 34-year-old Sheffield rival, six months after they shared a draw after tumbling over a Saudi top rope, inside two rounds.

But instead of celebrating with his team, he raced across to Cameron’s corner and trainer Grant Smith and stuck his head through the ropes and into his face.

Smith - father and trainer to rising super-light star Dalton - was disgusted and slung an open right palm in Whittaker’s direction.

The slap didn’t land, it grazed Whittaker before he slipped back through the ropes and returned to celebrate with his team.

Following his win, Whittaker denied spitting towards Cameron's team.

  • Whittaker's row with Cameron's corner

An animated Whittaker approached the corner of Liam Cameron after stopping his rival in the second round.

    The commentator said: "That's classless.

"I don't care if the crowd boo you or not, their man just got beat and stopped, that's classless. There's no excuse for that."

  • Whittaker mocks the crowd

The 2020 Olympic silver medallist was booed on his way in.

But he's giving it back to them now.

  • Whittaker wins by TKO in R2

Whittaker throws an overhand right around the glove of Cameron, who steps into a left hand and then lands a firm right.

WHITTAKER ROCKS CAMERON WITH A RIGHT HAND!

He launches into a vicious assault at the ropes before the referee finally steps in with Cameron's legs on the verge of going down!

The ref's stoppage looks premature, but Cameron's legs were gone.

  • Whittaker vs Cameron R2

Whittaker is looking to kill Cameron's right hand around the back of the guard.

Whittaker comes off the ropes and grabs hold of Cameron before the ref steps in. A bit of blood is coming from the 34-year-old's nose.

Cameron is getting a bit more success and he goes for a big hand over the top.

But Whittaker beautifully side steps and counters before explosively letting rip with a flurry of punches.

Cameron backs off and his legs are rocking.

Whittaker keeps going before the ref STOPS IT!

  • Whittaker vs Cameron R1

Here we go.. ten rounds of light heavyweight boxing...

Cameron starts with a tight guard and is already riding the punches.

Whittaker begins with a nice lander to the body, the younger boxer is putting gas on that right hand and pushed Cameron back,

The Surgeon is getting behind his jab and he looks razor sharp and crisp. Cameron seems tense with a slow left hook.

Cameron steps up with a good double jab, right hand after consistent pressure, but it's met with an immediate response from Whittaker.

    Whittaker 1-0 up.

  • And here they come..

Liam Cameron is ready for the biggest night in his career. Can he derail Ben Whittaker's trajectory?

Whittaker is second out, but he's met with a lot of boos in his HOME TOWN. And a full gospel choir...

  • Cameron: I feel sorry for Whittaker

I feel sorry for him. That's the kind of person I am.

"With that said, I'm going to smash his face in every round."

    We're about to find out.

  • Whittaker vs Cameron 2 NEXT!

It is six months since the first fight between the British pair ended in bizarre fashion, when both men tumbled over the ropes in the fifth round.

A draw was announced with Whittaker having sustained an ankle injury that saw him unable to continue.

Whittaker was left in a wheelchair and hospitalised after a freak injury.

It promises to be a tasty rematch...

  • Smashing Egg

The winner says: "This was always going to be a rough one because Lee is cut from the same cloth as me.

"I tried to tell him it wasn't a bad loss, because I have had far worse. I told him to ride it out because it will come good.

"I am not the best judge but I thought I was winning.

"I thought I gave two rounds away because I sat on the ropes and tried to be cute - and I am not cute.

"I am 14 years and 45 fights in and still winning, I don't know anyone like that."

  • Cut deepest

Lee Cutler will be heartbroken and rightly so.

It was a close fight but one of the cards, the 90-83 effort, seems ridiculous.

Eggington's corner told him before the ninth and final round that their man had to do more, because it was so close and contentious.

Cutler was on such a great run but Eggington has been a cult hero for years.

  • Eggington wins!

The three judges score the Birmingham barnstormer: 87-85, 90-83 and 87-85

Replays show the second cut to Eggington's left eye was caused by a sweet right hand.

So the ref's decision to go to the cards must be based on the damage to the right and closed eye.
