Haney, 26, came through an underwhelming unanimous decision win over Ramirez at Times Square in New York on Friday night.

It was far from a classic or vintage performance from the two-weight former world champion with very little to write home about.

So much so that some even dubbed it "easily the worst fight of the year".

And that sparked a wave of negativity from some of boxing's biggest names on social media.

Conor Benn was ringside in New York - one week on from his defeat to Chris Eubank Jr - but struggled to stay awake during the fight.

He wrote: "The judges won’t have a scorecard because they're all asleep."

Dillon Danis tweeted: "Devin Haney really put the city that never sleeps to sleep."

Dillian Whyte added: "This Haney fight is trash I can’t believe I stayed up for this."

Shawn Porter said: "Devin is comfortable in this energy. It just looks odd to us."

Dan Rafael typed: "One of the worst fights I have seen in a long time."

And Jack Catterall joked: "Tell you what I get called boring this makes me look like a prime Marvin Hagler."

Hall of Famer commentator Jim Lampley quipped: "If ever there was a fight capable of inducing a nap in Times Square, it would be this one."

And the stats backed up the scathing comments.

Because in 40 years of CompuBox tracking the numbers in boxing, only three 12-round fights have produced fewer landed punches.

Haney managed to connect with Ramirez 70 times while his opponent only did so on 30 occasions in a deeply disappointing bout.

That tally of 110 punches is less than one-fifth of the 582 in the Eubank-Benn clash in North London.

The maximum number of punches landed by either man in one round was nine from Haney in the ninth.

The Dream landed just shy of a third of his punches overall while Ramirez found the target with 14.3 per cent.
