He had guided the newly-promoted side to an impressive ninth in La Liga and a Spanish Cup final.

Allardyce stepped down as Palace boss last week, just five months after he joined the Selhurst Park club.

And Spain sources say the Eagles have approached Pellegrino, 45, having been alerted by the fact has expressed his desire to manage in England.  Leicester have also sounded out the manager.

Pellegrino — who was assistant to Rafa Benitez at both Liverpool and Inter Milan — has been heralded in Spain this season after no one gave Alaves a chance of staying in La Liga.
