The champ posted a picture on Twitter that showed he was about to have SURGERY.

He wrote: "It turns out I only went and broke my jaw in the third round on Saturday, that or [I] broke it from over smiling since!

Groves is now planning to unify the middleweight decision in a blockbuster rematch against childhood rival James DeGale.

Groves stunned British boxing to hand the former Olympic champ the first - and so far only - defeat of his career.

And Carl Froch, who beat Groves twice in a heated rivalry, believes Groves will beat DeGale again.

Froch told Sky Sports: "I will definitely say it now: he beats James DeGale.

"He could be his nemesis for a start.

"He beat him in the amateurs, he beat him as a professional and he [DeGale] got his teeth knocked out by Badou Jack.

"Losing your teeth doesn't mean you're a bad fighter, but he was beaten up badly and nicked the draw.

"George Groves now looks like he is getting better, but with DeGale he is at that point where you think he's not."

Froch also revealed he was delighted his former rival finally won a world crown.

"I couldn't do anything other than applaud George Groves' win," he said.

"We did catch each other's eyes at the end and it just made me feel good."
