The former Swansea boss guided Leeds to seventh in the Championship last season before resigning from his post in May.

Pearson has been out of work after leaving Derby last October following a disastrous stint which involved a reported bust-up with owner Mel Morris.

Gibson will be expecting their new manager to guide them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
