Bruce is looking to bolster his squad this summer ahead of an assault on the upcoming Championship season.

Their hopes of an instant return to the Premier League quickly vanished under Roberto Di Matteo last campaign before Bruce arrived to steady the ship.

And it appears he will attempt to lure Terry to the club with a big promotion bonus if he does sign.

Bournemouth remain the bookies' favourites to land Terry, but they have now slashed the odds on him heading to Villa Park.

A move for Whelan is also in the pipeline.
