JOSE MOURINHO is interested in bringing out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Andres Gomes to Manchester United.
According to reports from Spain, United have opened up talks with Barca over the possibility of signing the Portugal international.
claim that both the Red Devils and Italian champions Juventus have made their interests in Gomes clear to Blaugrana.
The Catalans paid £29.3 million for Gomes last summer, but the Portuguese has struggled in his maiden season with the club.
The 23-year-old, who rejected overtures to join United and Real Madrid in favour of a move to Barca, has failed to claim a regular place in the side.
He made just 17 league starts under Luis Enrique, but he was subbed off on 12 of those occasions.
The Euros winner has also been used as somewhat of a scapegoat for the failures of Barcelona this season.
And is was even reported that Lionel Messi asked Enrique to drop Gomes during the unhappy campaign.
Gomes is currently on international duty with Portugal, who are competing in the Confederations Cup against Mexico on Sunday.
United have linked to Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata and will be hoping to complete the transfer soon.
They recently signed Benfica ace Victor Lindelof on Wednesday for £31 million on a four-year contract.
