ANTONIO CONTE is set to sign a new contract at Chelsea ending speculation over his future at the club.

Rumours of a rift between the manager and players have been rife after the Italian ditched Diego Costa by text.

Conte was also thought to be frustrated with Chelsea's transfer strategy as he wants greater control over the players arriving at Stamford Bridge.

But the title-winning boss will now speak to chairman Roman Abramovich over a new contract and the report that they expect him to sign.

The 47-year-old currently has a contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2019 but his extension will see a hike in his wage packet to around £9.6million-a-year.

It will make him the club's highest paid manager in history following his instant Premier League success in his debut season.

Conte is expected to be handed a £200m warchest to improve his squad this summer but Abramovich wants reassurances that the manager won't break the club's transfer strategy.

Juventus wing-back Alex Sandro remains one of his top transfer target but they have been knocked back with a £52m bid.

Conte is also in need of a striker as they look to get a deal for Romelu Lukaku over the line.

Alvaro Morata also remains on the radar of the manager.

Chelsea are also expected to complete a deal for Monaco's midfield enforcer Tiemoue Bakayoko but Conte may have to remain patient to land his signings.
