And Chelsea will not stand in the way of his departure despite paying £8.5million to sign the French international from QPR three years ago.

Remy, 30, started just one Premier League game for Palace last season and it is more than 18 months since he scored his last goal back in December, 2015.

Former club Marseille could be interested in a reunion but the player would need to agree to a major wage cut for the move to happen.

Meanwhile the Blues are closing in on a deal to land Monaco's powerhouse midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The defensive midfielder will undergo a medical in England next week ahead of a £35million switch.

If the move does go through it could mean that Nemanja Matic will move closer to a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
