England Under-20 star Freddie Woodman writes touching letter to FA staff after World Cup glory
Three Lions kitman Pat Frost revealed the message he received from the Newcastle stopper
ENGLAND Under-20s World Cup hero Freddie Woodman has proven to be just as class an act off the pitch as he is on it.
The Newcastle goalkeeper produced a stunning late penalty save against Venezuela last month to secure a 1-0 win and glory for the Three Lions.
And the humble hero, 20, has shown none of the headlines he received have gone to his head by penning a personalised thank you letter to each member of the FA staff involved with the tournament.
England kitman Pat Frost, a popular figure with a number of Three Lions stars over the years, revealed the touching message he received from the stopper on Monday evening via his Twitter account.
The emotional former West Brom dressing-room kit king posted a copy of his letter along with a caption saying: "You can have all the medals in the world but this beats winning more than anything... Thank you."
Woodman, who described his moment of truth in South Korea exclusively to SunSport, had wrote: "I would like to take the time to appreciate the help and support you gave me during our time away.
"I'd like to thank you for the time, effort and hard work you and the rest of the staff put in to help us achieve our goal.
"To share winning the World Cup with you and this team is a great honour.
"Your quality of work, love for football and ability to light up a room Frosty is something that will stay with me for a long time."
Woodman, who kept four clean sheets at the tournament, is tied to a long-term deal with Newcastle but looks set to spend this season out on loan.
He has previously enjoyed stints at Hartlepool, Crawley and Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.
League One Peterborough United confirmed their interest in him on Monday during an interview with chairman Darragh MacAnthony on the club's YouTube channel.
Killie are also believed to be trying to secure his services again on a season-long deal.
