Romelu Lukaku undergoes Manchester United medical in LA overnight after going AWOL from Everton duties
ROMELU LUKAKU went AWOL from Everton duties last night to have his Manchester United medical in LA.
The Toffees striker was due at LAX yesterday afternoon to fly back from his summer break and link up with his teammates.
But Lukaku, 23, expects to be a United player by the time Jose Mourinho's squad arrive in the US on Sunday.
And the Belgian powerhouse will stay in the States with pal Paul Pogba before joining his new team on their pre-season tour.
The pair were pictured training at the UCLA complex where Lukaku underwent his medical ahead of a £75million switch.
Chelsea were desperate to bring their former star back to Stamford Bridge this summer after admitting they were wrong to let him go.
But Mourinho and Ed Woodward scooped up Lukaku from under the Prem champs' noses in a huge coup.
After a slow start in the window which saw Victor Lindelof the only new face at Old Trafford, the club are making progress.
Pogba - who has holidayed with Lukaku for the last two summers - is likely to have played a key role in convincing his mate to join him.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has reportedly turned his attention to Javier Hernandez, with Alvaro Morata another option.
