The French champions are in no hurry to sell one of their key assets having already lost the likes of Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea.

And they plan to drive a hard bargain with Man City because they are confident the mega-rich side will stump up the extra cash.

Walker become one of the most expensive defenders in history when he completed his switch to the Etihad earlier this month.

With Mendy four years younger than the the former Tottenham man and the French champions feel he should be valued around the same figure.

But City still remain confident of landing his signature ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old left-back was left out of Monaco's pre-season squad that travelled to Switzerland fuelling speculation that Man City were closing in on a deal.

Man City are desperate to bolster their defence after losing the likes of Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna.

And it has forced the Spanish boss to make a move for Real Madrid's Danilo.

City have opened talks with the full-back’s representatives and are discussing personal terms ahead of a £25m move.

He can play on either flank and City have been impressed with his performances having scouted him on a number of occasions last season.
