JOSE MOURINHO cheekily tried to persuade Gareth bale to join him at Manchester United before their pre-season friendly.
The United boss has made no secret of his admiration for the Real Madrid star, who is happy at the Bernabeu.
And ahead of United's shoot-out win, the Special One grabbed the chance to chat to Bale in the tunnel.
Mourinho appears to say "I can't buy you because you don't talk to me" to the Welshman as he walks past.
The £89million signing smiled as he walked away from the brief exchange, which was picked up by Spanish TV cameras.
Ahead of the game, Mourinho was asked if he had considered a world-record move for Bale, 28, earlier in the summer.
But the Portuguese boss insisted he was never in for the Welsh superstar as he is enjoying his time in the Spanish capital.
Mourinho said: "Because you have contacts, you have feelings, you understand things, I think it was clear that Bale likes Madrid, likes the challenge, likes the situation.
“He’s in a club that’s in a very good situation now. I never felt a desire from him to leave, so why lose time and energy on that? No.”
Bale was seen chatting to Romelu Lukaku during the game, raising hopes the Belgian might be trying to lure him to Old Trafford.
But the flier revealed he was just wishing Lukaku luck for his debut season at United.
He said: “I just wished him good luck for the season. He has just signed for them and I hope he has a great season. I am sure he knows all about the spotlight.
“He has been playing for long enough. He has done very well in the Premier League and I am sure he will do great for them.”
