Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor BANNED from wearing 8oz gloves by Nevada State Commission over safety fears
CONOR MCGREGOR and Floyd Mayweather have been told they are NOT ALLOWED to change the size of the gloves they will wear.
Mayweather had contacted McGregor offering him the chance to change the glove size for their fight on August 26 in Las Vegas.
"Our regulations already outline the appropriate glove size according to contracted weight of a fight."
Mayweather and McGregor are only weeks away from their highly anticipated cross sports matchup in Las Vegas."
The confirmation led to McGregor posting on Instagram that he "doesn't give a f*** about the size of the gloves", as he is coming at Mayweather "with bricks".
Alongside a photo of him sparring in the ring, The Notorious added: "Another handy 12 rounds today. We are prepared to destroy Floyd.
"Pick whatever size gloves you want as well little man. I fight with 4oz. I don't give a fuck about the size of the glove."
"I am coming sprinting at you with bricks. Know that. Brittle hands."
In the UFC, glove size ranges from 4oz to 6oz and McGregor has requested in the past that they change the weight of the gloves for their cross-code match-up.
Last month, Mayweather hinted he was open to the move to which McGregor replied: "Don’t fool the public.
"All these rules, all these restrictions, it doesn’t faze me, it amuses me. The gloves, they have to be 10-ounce for 154 pounds.
"He’s never fought at 154. I think he’s fought at 154 maybe once. He wants the gloves up. No problem. Give him the gloves up. I’ll wear 10 ounces.
"No Mexican-made gloves. OK, no problem. No gloves made out of horsehair. All right, no problem. I don’t give a f***."
