Bradford’s Adam Chicksen taken to hospital for ‘precautionary tests’ after sickening clash of heads 15 minutes into debut and is stretchered off and given oxygen
The Bantams' League One opener against Blackpool was held up for eight minutes after the horror collision
BRADFORD CITY defender Adam Chicksen was taken to hospital after he was involved in a sickening clash of heads on his debut that saw him stretchered off while receiving oxygen.
A Bradford spokesman told SunSport: "Adam has regained consciousness and has gone to hospital for precautionary scans."
With his debut just 15 minutes old in the League One opener against Blackpool at Valley Parade, Chicksen clashed with opponent Max Turton and crumpled to the floor.
Blackpool's players were quick to act, immediately moving the full-back into the recovery position.
St John's Ambulance staff then rushed on to the field to attend the stricken former Charlton player as he lay motionless on the floor.
The game was held up for eight minutes as Chicksen was treated. He left the field on a stretcher where he was being administered oxygen.
He was taken to an ambulance that had parked up by the away stand, and was taken straight to Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Chicksen only joined Bradford this summer following his release by League One rivals Charlton.
