Liverpool finished their summer unbeaten ahead of the Premier League curtain raiser against Watford but Klopp obviously isn't one to rest on laurels.

During the win over Bilbao, Klopp's fury was picked up by the TV microphones.

He yelled: "August is too late to play like this.

It seemed to give his players the kick up the backside they needed as goals from Roberto Firmino, Been Woodburn and Dominic Solanke saw off their Spanish opponents.

Klopp appeared a lot calmer after the clash and said he side played 'brilliant football.'

The German said: "For half an hour today I'd say we played brilliant football.

"Then we lost organisation and gave them a few opportunities which changed the game a little bit.

“We’ve had a lot of games in pre-season and we didn’t lose one. We had two draws and lost on penalties to Atletico Madrid. It’s a good sign.
