The £6m fee exceeds the £5m the Seagulls paid for goalkeeper Matthew Ryan from Valencia earlier this summer.

Brighton have secured the Dutchman on a four-year deal, which will keep him at the Amex Stadium until 2021.

Propper will be hoping to get straight into the Brighton squad ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester City.

The experienced 25-year-old has played more than 250 senior games in his homeland, netting 43 times in the process.

"There is no doubting his pedigree, Davy has played a number of matches in the Champions League for PSV, as well as international football for Netherlands.

"He is also a really good age at 25; we are absolutely delighted to welcome him to the club," the Seagulls boss confirmed.

Propper was first called up on international duty in 2013, but he didnt win his first cap until 2015 against USA.

He now has appearances for Netherlands under his belt, with the most recent against Ghana earlier this year.
