LUCAS PEREZ'S agent has criticised Arsenal for pricing him out of a move from the Emirates.

The Spaniard is desperate to leave the club this summer having failed to break into the first-team.

Newcastle have shown a keen interest in the 28-year-old but a return home with Deportivo appears his most likely destination.

Arsenal forked out £17.5million to sign him 12 months ago and it is believed Arsene Wenger wants around the same figure in order to cash in.

But clubs are baulking at his price-tag and Perez's agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, has shared his frustrations.

Speaking to , he said: "Lucas wants to play but it depends on Arsenal.

"Arsenal want more [money]. We want to leave but if there is no agreement he has a contract with Arsenal.

"The ideal price is about €12m (£10.8m)."

Perez featured 21 times in all competitions last season but his strike record impressed with a goal every three matches.

Deportivo have already reportedly had a £10m bid rejected whilst Newcastle were weighing up a £13.4m switch.

Speaking after Toon's 2-0 over Hellas Verona, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez said: "I like the player because I have good friends in Coruna.

“I know that he did really well, he’s come here and not played in many games, but I like the player.

“We know what we need and will try to do it until the end of the transfer window.”
