Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather: Boxer Mayweather claims Irish UFC ace has ‘edge’ going into super-fight due to age
FLOYD MAYWEATHER has sensationally claimed Conor McGregor has the edge over him going into their mega-fight.
The undefeated boxer is 40 and takes on the UFC star in one of the biggest bouts ever in Las Vegas on August 26.
But Mayweather has admitted that after a couple of years out of the ring — and the age gap between the fighters — McGregor has a slight advantage.
Mayweather said: "He's a lot younger. When you look at myself and Conor McGregor on paper, he's taller, has a longer reach, he's a bigger man from top to bottom.
"He's a lot younger, so youth is on his side. And I've been off a couple of years.
"And I'm in my 40s. So, if you look at everything on paper, it leans toward Conor McGregor.
"I'm not the same fighter I was two years ago. I'm not the same fighter I was five years ago. I lost a step."
The former pound for pound king spoke of his last fight, saying how going 12 rounds with Andre Berto shows he is "slipping".

Mayweather added: "A fighter like Andre Berto isn't even supposed to go the distance with Floyd Mayweather, but remember, I was 38.
"It's obvious I'm slipping a little bit to even let a fighter like Andre Berto go the distance with me.
"I'm not what I used to be. I used to have a 90 percent knockout ratio. It's obvious I slipped somewhere. Something has taken a toll on my career."
The build up to the fight has been controversial as the two traded insults, with some claiming McGregor used racist slurs against his opponent.
McGregor likened Mayweather to a monkey which the American star has now branded as "total disrespect".
Mayweather added: "I just didn't like when he called us monkeys.
"I think that was totally disrespect.
"I didn't like it. It didn't push a button to make me jump out of my character and go crazy, but I didn't like it."
