Just four months later he guided Real Madrid to the Champions League title after beating fierce rivals Atletico Madrid on penalties.

Last season Real Madrid became the first side ever to defend their European crown whilst they also won the La Liga title.

His six titles in total means he is already the club's fourth most successful manager in the club's rich history.

Spanish publication AS claim that "the club is waiting for the right moment to make a public announcement" over his contract.

His new deal means he will remain at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2020.

And Zidane isn't the only member of the Real Madrid set-up to commit his future to the club.

Spanish talent Isco penned a new five-year deal on Friday with a stunning £634million release clause.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City were all linked with moves for the magical little playmaker but he’s convinced Real boss Zinedine Zidane to stick with him.

It comes just days after Manchester United refused to sign the 25-year-old in 2013 because "his head was too big for his body."
