EVERTON are on the verge of signing Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson for £45 million, according to reports.
The deal has been dragged out by the Welsh side who first wanted to find a replacement for their star man.
The Daily Mail claims Sigurdsson has expressed his desire to leave Swansea and has told the club that he wishes join to join the Toffees.
The Merseyside club are offering £40 million upfront plus an additional two £2.5 million payment in add-ons.
On Thursday Swans boss Paul Clement confirmed that talks were at a "critical stage."
And the Iceland international was subsequently not included in their Premier League opener against Southampton on Sunday.
Clement said: "We're at a critical stage and hope it's going to be resolved as soon as possible."
"They [the club's owners] understand the pros and cons of doing it earlier rather than later.

"Clearly with each day goes by you get a little bit more frustrated because you don't know if you're going to have the player or if not."
