Previously the boxing authority had said they wouldn't be allowed to, and would have to stick with 10oz gloves over "safety fears".

But Dana White, UFC president and heading McGregor's promotion team, posted on Instagram writing that the "NASC just approved 8oz gloves for the fight".

Mayweather had contacted McGregor offering him the chance to change the glove sizefor their fight on August 26 in Las Vegas.

Both Mayweather and McGregor had agreed to 10oz gloves, but Mayweather offered McGregor a chance to change the size of gloves to 8oz.

But the Nevada State Commission originally said the two global superstars could not alter the size of the gloves as the rules are set in place to protect fighters health.

Yet now it's all change, much to the delight of McGregor himself, who posted on Instagram, writing: "I am very pleased with the Nevada State Athletic Commission's handling of my next bout today."

Mayweather and McGregor are less than two weeks away from their highly anticipated cross sports match-up in Las Vegas.

In the UFC, glove size ranges from 4oz to 6oz and McGregor has requested in the past that they change the weight of the gloves for their cross-code match-up.

Last month, Mayweather hinted he was open to the move to which McGregor replied: "Don’t fool the public.

"All these rules, all these restrictions, it doesn’t faze me, it amuses me. The gloves, they have to be 10-ounce for 154 pounds.

"He’s never fought at 154. I think he’s fought at 154 maybe once. He wants the gloves up. No problem. Give him the gloves up. I’ll wear 10 ounces.
